One of these things is not like the others.

old stock coils arnt new coils. they prolly will have issues as well. id at minimum swap the coil from the 3/4 to the 1/6 and see if the problem moves. if it does replace that coil. id grab wires too just to be safe. is it really that hard to swap 2 coils around? im just wondering as you havent done it yet and its the easiest way to see if that is the issue.

I did swap the two coils. I have not driven it enough to see if the problem moves from cylinder 3 to cylinder 2.

I am very busy with school and work. I do not have as much time to work on the supra as I would like.

Supras are more important than school.:thumbsdow
heh, j/k

from the glazed black color on your electrode my guess would be oil.

This sucks its like everyone is just 1 problem away from getting their cars ready. When you swapped coils and hopefully new plugs did you drive the car around? Did it help it run better at all? If that doesnt work swap two injectors around and see if the problem follows it. Luckily your setup makes it easy to move these things around vs a stock setup.

I swapped coil 2 and 3, at the same time replacing the spark plug with a new one.

I drove for about 15 miles, boosted a few times. identical symptoms. I pulled the #3 plug and its starting to get build up on it, not near as bad though. #2 is still perfect.

I'm going to put more miles on it, and boost a bit more to try and see if it gets as bad.

it's sure pointing at fuel though.

I also did a compression test, which yielded a 153

ohh oops...somehow missed that sorry. I just thought that might point to it being oil or not. Seems like it must be carbon fouling then. Now might be a good time to remove your injectors and have them cleaned and tested. Even if that injector isnt leaking you will have clean injectors when done so its not a bad thing either way. If you dont want to pay someone to do it Im pretty sure there is a section in the TSRM on how to do it at home.

Its all good, it was a good suggestion. My Dad was the first to suggest it. Scared the hell out of me to even try :D

I'm going to run it a bit more to make sure that #3 is going to repeat what happened ona new plug.

Then I am going to switch the injector. I'm not running lean, so I'm not risking damaging anything <True statement?>

The thing that ticks me off is that these injectors are freshly cleaned/flowed. They went from the flow bench to the engine. Based on that fact I am almost leaning towards a wiring issue, not an injector issue.

we'll see here soon. My International Relations class is a killer for time. its a awesome class however the work load is insane, I hardly have any time to play with the Supra any more.

The cause of the problem was a broken wire to the fuel injector plug.

*sigh* what a relief. Engine runs perfect.
