I was hoping your displeasure with the spool was a tuning issue rather than a turbo issue as the SP61GT is a small to mid-sized turbo. With your fuel mods it is common to run too rich, but you're about normal. You could probably go a bit leaner, but without a way of monitoring knock I wouldn't recomend it. (Leaner of course is hotter, and heat drives the turbo helping spool it). The other main issue is the stock cat-back. When you are running with the cut-out open, is the spool still unacceptable?

For me it is, I know I could lean it out a bit more but I do tend to be a bit more conservative.
I guess for me it is more about the powerband. I have a 2 stroke street bike (don't see many of those around) and it sux until about 6K or so, then it goes like hell. Redline on that is 9.5 or so.

I lost about 1.K of powerband. When you only had 3K of PB and then go down to 2K of PB it is a major difference.

Well, the stocker is back on and I'm happy. 5th gear is useful again. The acceration is no where near as violent once spooled, but I like having my torque down low again.

Hopefully over the winter, I will decide on a happy medium.

I have a much better handle now as to how turbos work and might consider even doing an external wastegate type set up, though I would hate to have to redo my exhaust.

Good luck with whatever you decide. Glad to see your happy to be back with the ct. Are you back to running 13psi, or did you go for more this time?

Around 14 I think. Have not hooked the laptop up to log, but the hot sync cable should be here on Tues. for the Palm using the pocket logger software. I have the rest of the stuff and am looking forward to logging with that.

Happy so far as 5th gear is back.

I'll report on how the Palm/pocketlogger/ZT software works.
