Looks to me like someone left the old oil filter - and possibly the old oil - under their car as they were driving out of the garage. That would make quite the mess.

After I changed the oil, we lowered the car. and I started it
I start to drive out, and i hear a scrape, I figure, since the orientation of the garage and driveway, i just tapped my exhaust once again, as I did on the way in. When i let off, and back on slowly, i hear it more, sounds like its dragging,
Shit, I caught my Cat. I get out of the car and push it a little, still scrapes.
I then pony up and just drive out. I turn around down the street, and park, I then see a decimated oil filter.
Story sucks, yes, but the picture was worth a little mind game
