I don't feel sorry for what happens to drifters OR their cars. "Controlled slide" is an oxymoron. Something is going to go wrong eventually, even for the professionals. Whether it's tire failure or a slick patch of the road, it's going to be the same as a failed parachute - rare, but fatal - but with higher odds.
