old struts, new springs?

i was thinking about throwing some H&R springs on my kyb gr2 struts.

i was a bit skeptical because the struts might be getting old and worn out (not really sure how to tell), is there any reason to worry?

How old are the struts and how many miles on them? It would probably be beneficial to replace them if you want the car to handle properly. Stiffer springs will on almost blown shocks will not be good for handling. And if you're pulling everything off anyway, why not get better shocks as well. It's not that much more and it will make the car handle a lot better.

well i would be going out on a limb to replace the springs, i'm not sure the condition of the struts (bought the car with them, and the springs look to be stockers)

is there anyway to test the condition of the struts?
