Old oil = Burning oil?

Whats going on guys, well after 4 years of my car sitting in my driveway it's back on the road and as bad ass as ever! My only issue is that upon getting it back from the performance shop it's been puffing white smoke at idle, smells like oil and I'm wondering why. It was brand new oil from the last time I changed it which was about 3 1/2 years ago, and I intend on changing it for thicker oil in the next few days to see if this remedies the problem. As far as performance goes the car runs great! Boosts fine, and overall runs very stout, no overheating issues, no anything. Years back when it was on the road it never smoked whatsoever, it doesn't leak, all coolant is in place, it just seems odd and hopefully thicker/new oil will resolve the problem. I'm just paranoid as I am excited to get the car back but seeing it puff oil disturbs me. Valve stem seals possibly? Here's a quick rundown of what is modified on the car..

HKS MHG/ARP Studs
FFIM
T04R/Tubular Manifold
550cc/MAFT Setup
etc..etc...

As far as PCV goes, I have a catch can setup with it getting vacuum through the intake. Once again the car runs great, idles a tad high and doesn't like cold start but otherwise performs quite well..Hell, leaps and bounds from where it was years ago...If anyone has any input it is appreciated as always, hopefully the new thick oil will solve my problems, I'll get a picture of my setup tomorrow..Thanks guys..

I would not put thicker oil in. run either 5w30 or 0w30. Your valve stem seals could have taken a shit.

Upon further inspection I found that it was indeed my turbo that was burning the oil, my almost brand new T04R that has only around 500miles on it. Oil was just sitting in the exhaust housing, and the ring/seal underneath the exhaust turbine just spins freely. So now I'm stuck was a leaky turbo after spending almost 3k to have my car put together. I'm not pointing any fingers but it just seems odd because I never had any problems with the turbo whatsoever, I guess my next avenue is to have it rebuilt but I'm also pretty clueless at this point what to do as I don't have another 1300 to drop on a new turbo..It was installed professionally, and to add to the mystery everything seemed kosher expect for the return line seemed somewhat dry, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be that way but I would assume not. It wasn't clogged or anything, and the feed line is -4an so I can't see overfeeding being an issue..I'm just really bummed right now..Any ideas where to take this further? I may post up in the turbo tech section and see what I can come up with, thanks guys...

All fluids have been changed, the turbo is the issue now. Possibly needing a rebuild, going to seek other options first..Thanks anyways

Heh, who knows man, even being basically new it was still sitting for a few years so anything is possible, it boosts just fine but smokes like a mofo and after taking it off the manifold you could see all the oil sitting in the exhaust housing and the downpipe. Definitely bums me out but I'm going to see if changing the oil line from a -4 to a -3 solves anything, as I think it may be getting too much oil, but I could be wrong and it may just be that the seals are shot. I'm just glad I found out what was wrong, would rather it be something small then something big and internal..Trying to stay positive!!

seals in your turbo dried up? My last ct26 smoked only on idle, and found the seals/orings were shot.
Pardon?

What's the drain from the Turbo?

Pretty large lol, as far as size goes I'm not sure. Whats odd is when I took the turbo off I checked the drain for any clogging etc and everything looked good though the return hose looked relatively dry. I'm either going to go to a smaller feed line and/or add a restrictor to that line. I just don't want to rebuild the turbo if I don't have to, if money wasn't an issue it would be the direction I would go, being a recent college grad money is very much an issue lol..Thanks for the input guys!
