What amp do you have and what are your plans for the box? And also, what kind of music do you listen to 90% of the time....

From this info i can link you to some great subs...

I just did this. do you got a amp yet cause I spent over $200 on amp alone. I got infinity 6X9's in a box I made with 2 JL 8inch subs. as you can see I didnt go for the shake the whole car and the ground around you like most teens do, I just went for the best sounding I could get for the money. I suggest save up and buy a good sub.

Hmmm, i don't know, if you want high SQ, clean sounding sub i don't understand how Kicker ever made it to your list. Box tuning to the whole system is not smth you can easily do through the forum. It is very subjective and requires system design for a specific effect and response. There is absolutely, and i mean ABSOLUTELY, no reason for you to choose anything but a sealed 1cu.f. home for your sub. This is the number one bass tuning tip for those who are looking for PnP install with great results. I think it will help you to develop a good taste and proper understanding of a flat frequesncy responce and will give you the best bottom-end extension and depth. You will hardly ever find anything but sealed system design in audiophile builds. Ported and band-pass boxes are 95% junk because they are sold as universal and don't fit to a particular sub and/or system . People put subs in them that shouldn't be there. Sealed 1 cu.f. box will give you the flattest response, will blend into most sytems, and 98% of the subs out there designed to work with sealed applications and will sound at their best in boxes between 0.7 to 1.5 or even 2 cu.f. boxes - for a 12 inch. As far as subs is concerned i cant think of anything better for 200$ than a Jl 12W3V3 or an IDQ10v.3. They are super clean, fast, accurate, deep, musical, and will take a shit load of power before they start farting,if ever. I think they'll just blow before they bottomout. Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps.

PS. Brutalis or Brutus?

Everyone has theyre opinion on what subs are better then others... But really alot depends on how they wired up the subwoofer and what cheap amp they were trying to push the sub with. I have heard 2 12 Cvr's in a regular cab F150 and those things hit so Hard it really was unberable inside the cabin. They were powered by a mono block kicker amp the way they were suppose 2 be. I have also heard to 12 inches powered by a boss and they sounded Like $hit... Now the question really isint the money entirely, Its what you want? Loud growling bass everyone can hear or a hometheater like bass that is clear... I am planning to put in a 15 inch Kicker CVX in my supra. You dont have to worry about box dimensions unless you are doing a custom install and costy subwoofer set up to exact specifications... Personally, I love Memphis. From there Kicker and MTX are good also. Here is the one you are thinking about in 15 inches http://www.amazon.com/Kicker-CVX12-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1219863789&sr=8-1 and its a gr8 subwoofer for SQ, sound quality... and also the one I will be using most likely. Put it in a ported box and you should be set. http://www.amazon.com/KICKER-ZX400-...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1219864069&sr=1-1 and this amp can push it and then some... That would be a Kicker set up... Just an example of something you can do. How much you looking to spend in all? If you want I can send you links of difrent brand subwoofer setups with difrent prices...

Well ... if you heard it, you liked it, why do you ask? You like Kicker, GET IT. You'll be happy with it. Get what you think is good for you and your brain will make you like the sound too: as long you are happy with the brand name and the looks. Don't make us fight here. Get the Kicker. Its not bad really, it makes alot of people very happy. It's not junk, they are pretty good, they just targeting specific group of people with specific taste. Kicker is very famous brand for a reason it's not an off-brand or anything. It will deliver plenty of thump for you.

Heres some pics to see. There are alot people that choose Kicker for crazy installs and get very good results and trophies. Its profesional level. They don't just take crapy componets and go through all this trouble for nothing. They just like it, it's their preference.

Gr8 Choice, make sure you get 1ohm stable amp.... So your subwoofer sounds good and does not shut off when you try and turn the volume up... If you are doing install yourself make sure you are choosing the correct way to wire it up and if you dont know how to ( just assuming you dont lol) just ask me or any of the guys here... :D Post pics and vid when you you have installed everything... :D

Kicker L7's and small sealed boxes dont go toghether at all. Those things need a whole lot of airspace... L7's will set off alarms also lol... I think a Cvx or even a Cvr will fit you better since you want a smaller box. I have heard cvr's in enclosed and and ported and they perform well in both.. One great thing about kicker is how versatile they are. Even theyre cheapest subwoofers the comps are awesome. I owned 2 12's of those and for the price nothing beats emm... But let me ask again do you really want sound quality or just want to be heard...

If you must ahve kicker, and want it clean, go for a cvx. I had one in my old truck and was quite pleased with the results... But its much more than $200

like Pernilongo said, sealed is going to be the way to go. For most 12" subs i recommend a sealed box about 1-1.5 cu/ft...

Since you have the small budget of 200 for the sub, i think you would be pretty happy with a Resonant engineering SR 12, Image Dynamics ID 12, Eclipse SW7200, MB quart PWE series, Mmats P3, or an MTX thunder or the new TR line 7500 series.

Some of those subs needs big amps, some need mid sized amps... i dont know what your budget is for the amp, but keep in mind 99% of the time the amp will cost more than the speaker its powering!

He can get a single Cvx for under 200 actually, I can get him one easy for 180 - 150 maybe less but I dont know how 2 get it to him lol, he just needs to know were to buy emm, I know a guy with license to buy from factory.. And I mean the list of subwoofers he can get other then kicker are endless, He could look into Memphis wich I love :).... Oh and beachsupra tho i know you dont want spl here are two of the same subwoofers I had... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I-qo5KY4wg And yeah they bang hard.... 1 12 inch of those in ported box wont do you wrong either..... I sense preference towards enclosed boxes but really like I said there is too much weight on what subwoofer with what specifications and what amps.

If i didn't know what subwoofers are for i would be very impresed by that jumping change. It's like being able to move your ears - completely useless in relationshsip to the true fuction of your ears. What does it prove?

all it means is that you have too much air movement, thus, your balance between your mids, tweeters and subs is beyond disproportional and all you can hear is a constant screen of monotonous low frequency that is not connected to your music. I totaly see someone from JackAss movie listen to smth like that and laugh afterwards like a retard because his ears are bleeding.

How is moving change in your pocket and flexing panels is a virtue for a speaker? Don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question.

Also, please note that this video has no relevance to supra car audio. Chevy? WTF?

Okay 1st of all, It has everything to do with Supra Audio, It is about choosing a subwoofer for a Supra.... Not about a chevy, Go back and read Plz... 2nd of all Your input has nothing to do with Supra audio... It is an opinion on your prefenrence... And I have nothing against your opinion for I respect it but dont call some one elses choice for sound retarded because you are going up against a BIG fan base of People Who Love theyre systems LOUD... SPL competetion LOUD. I am not gonna come here and get technical on frequencies and all this wizdom you try and show off.. I know it too, believe me... I wont start an argument and I am not even being defensive, I am just stating why your post was pointless to this thread...
