I got it running but...

It dies everytime i get off the gas

It boosts extremaly easy. Normal for stock turbo???

It sounds like its boosting before boost reads on the gauge

Anytime i give it more then the slightest amount of gas and it get into posative pressure it will bog down.

Any Ideas? thanks in advance

Can you clarify the problem a little? are you on the gas or no?

when i push in the clutch and get off the gas it dies and doesnt want to stay running for anything unless i give it gas again. i'll restart it and it will sit at idle til i touch the gas again

when im moving with the clutch unpressed and i push on the gas enough to creat boost when it starts boosting and gets to anything over 0 it will start to bog down.

i'm not getting a check engine light and i dont know how to check for codes without the tool.

i just put the engine in and have not boosted passed 3-4 psi so i dont think its a boost leak. also it boosts really fast so i dont think its boost leak

you have to check your error codes. what you are describing could be timing related or you could have a bad AFM or some other things.

check your codes. there is no "tool" to check codes. you can search to find out how to do it.

check the TSRM.

without you checking your codes and posting your results it is USELESS to try to help diagnose your problem. it would be nothing but a wild goose chase and a waste of time.

search is your friend in this case.

whoa.. it sounds like you're open waste gate with those words. your boost controller comes out of the compressor housing through the controller and out to the waste gate actuator.. or you can help you self isolate the problem by taking the boost conroller off for now and stick a short peice of vac hose in place for now

the vac. hose between the comp. housing and the actuater is tied. then it runs to my controler

Yeah, I'd stands on that.

I'm with you.

same, also check your codes, get a paperclip and connect the TE1 and E1 on the diagnostics block in the engine bay just above the Fuse Box, then turn your key to the "ON" position, your engine light shit start blinking, codes read as the follwing.....1 second intervals 2 second pause 1 second interval, followed by I believe a 5 second pause if there are more codes, if i blinks constantly then you are not throwing any engine codes. For example if none of the makes sense.

Error code 51....5 one second blinks followed by 2 second pause and 1 blink

If I am wrong on any of this please someone correct me, otherwise use the search function for engine diagnostic and you will find a plethora of links on the subject.

I just find it hard to believe that you have nearly 400 posts, and have been a member since last June, and you don't know how to pull codes yet.
It's been covered, so, we move on.

What are your mods? Do you have an aftermarket BOV that vents to atmosphere? That would explain the stalling after blow off, but it would not explain the lack of boost finding the engine, unless it's waaaaaay too loose.

Search this forum for "boost leak tester". If you find nothing, google.
They're cheap to make, and extremely effective for finding boost leaks anywhere.

Stock boost gauge? If you're building boost before it reads on the gauge, that's typical of the stock gauge. Buy an aftermarket boost gauge. Even the cheapest autometer will be 100x better than what you have. Stepper motors weren't commonplace in the late 80's and early 90's, so electronic boost gauges like ours aren't the most accurate.

I've never had a need to pull codes because my car has not run(and i have not driven it) since i bought it(in june). I have learned alot about my car before i ever layed a hand on trying to build it. I have never driven a turbocharged car before so i dont know what it sounds like to drive one. I KNOW its not a boost leak. stock BOV. but I dont have a lack of boost finding the engine if anything it gets there to easy for me to brake the engine in the way i am use to on N/A racecars. I have two mods that came with the car(after rebuilding the engine right i didnt have much money left) its an air filter. and a MBC that i found out is hooked up wrong so i just pulled it. a full gauge setup is next on my list of mod after the maft pro group buy (because a cant pass up that deal even if i dont put it on right away.) so when i posted it was not only the first time i drove the car but also the first time i drove a turbo car besides lugging an evo around the block with the salesman in the pass. seat never hitting boost

OT: The most fun about taking a test drive in a performance car is putting it through it's paces with the salesman in the passenger seat and watching him squirm and make remarks. When they bitch, all you gotta say is "do you want me to buy the car or not? i gotta find out if i really like it"
lol

ok, so... how do you "know" you don't have a boost leak? What condition is your accordian hose in? Check it thoroughly for cracks. You could have an "unmetered air leak" pre-turbo.

Yea, I was a little more Conservative back then.lol

I havent ajusted the idle at all and it could just be that im brakeing the engine in and the idle hasn't bumped up yet thanks for your help
