cold start injectors get fouled out bad from EGR and oil from the PCV system...

you gotta pull em and soak the hell outta them in carb cleaner (mine was double the tickness it's supposed to be....ALL carbon buildup)

it just might be your starter is going to take a crap soon. That happened to my car. Check your starter contacts and make sure they aren't worn/corroded because mine sure was. Ended up replacing the starter since the car wouldn't even crank.

I broke some kind of sensor or switch on my car, I think it may have been the cold start time switch on the T-stat housing, and for several months until I finally replaced it the car needed like 20-30 seconds of cranking to start in the morning. After the first start of the day it started pretty quick though. After I replaced whatever I broke, it started immediately.

Regarding the hoses, I think it is the BVSV that has the hoses going to it on the T-stat housing. The cold start time switch does not have any hoses. It is just a switch on the very top of the T-stat housing.

Nope, same part number. Must be the discoloration that makes it look a different size. They are identical in design.

The base of that new looking CSI is smaller than the other, is it a different part #?

Yup, brand new from Toyota. I was lazy and just ordered a new one and swapped them out. I guess I'll clean the old one and hang on to it as a spare ready to go if I need it. It should buff right out . . :icon_mrgr

Hmm, must be. Was it a new one? That other one could use a good cleaning ;).

Hmm well this post just solved my problem with starting my car in the morning. It would take me a while to crank it and even if it started it would kill itself then start right after. I'll have to clean this and give it a try in the morning.

let me add to the Q. it takes about 5 to 10 minutes to start (the + battery cable gets screaming hot while trying) when it first starts tho it runs ruff then dies. then i have to try again. when it finaly runs it can ideal for a few minutes then it dies again. by the way it has a 30 thousand mile motor from japan in it but i do not think every thing is hooked up right ( i know the guy who did the install and it was he's first time to install a motor)
