Ok i have a head i bought a few months back for a spare and to put together b/f the MHG gets here, to cut down on downtime. So we pulled the head apart yesterday, and the valvetrain is in GREAT condition. the parts im installling are, Titan 1.4mm, ARP studs, NA intake cam, and Brian Crower valve springs. Ok my big worry is getting the gasket to seal, im having the head milled by a friend, what RA should i get it to? As for the block, i was just planning on taking the head out, does the block surface need to be worked on too, i hope not?

Go by the specs for the Titan MHG and you probably want to get the block cleaned up too. Make sure to machine the timing cover as well.

And if you're getting a bore/hone done itd probably be a good idea to torque the timing belt tensioner down as well.

Sawbladz has a nice list going...just pick out what applies to you ;)

BTW - A Titan MHG is really a Cometic...the max RA you can have is 50 on it, go lower if it doesn't cost much. Also lay the MHG on the block (aligned on the index pins) and check that none of the rivets holding it together touch any part of the block deck...remove any that do.

O And while im at it NEVER ORDER ANYTHING FROM TITAN MOTORSPORTS/ SUPRASTORE.COM, i spent $1147.52 on 8 parts three weeks ago and have still only recieved 4, then they double processed my order ran my bank account UNDER $825.... that place is MC FUCKED and i offically give them FOUR THUMBS DOWN!!!! im sticking w/ mdc, driftmotion, 935, and EBAY!!!

Yep...guys do it all the time (MHG without decking the block). Then, half the time, we get to read about them doing it again ;)

Ok wo wo, calm down, ill do the block, i have all the resources to do the motor, and a little rebuild action, if i go this route then im thinking some .20 over Probe slugs from driftmotion. First off why they hell are they so cheap, second ive only seen good things from probe are they good enough for the 7m???

Hi Guys
I know Im a newbie but I believe that there is a MAJOR design floor in the 7M head gasket. On the inlet side of the head there are two water ducts cut into the gasket yet only one is actually needed.Take a look at the block the water passage is about half the size of the duct ,the holes in the gasket are a serious contributor to weakening the gasket. Most of the gaskets that I have seen blow ,normally land up pushing the gaket right over this water duct. If anyone does not understand and needs me to supply pics ,let me know. The other problem in this area is that the head has no shoe in it to press and secure the bridge on the gasket...this is crazy and surely somebody has noticed this flaw long ago.
