I couldn't find out how to get to the actual oil gauge to change it out. Before I start unscrewing every last screw I see, I thought I would ask if there was an easy way that I'm just not seeing...
It seems like it's between the circuit paper and the white plastic. I've already removed the clear plastic, but I put that back on, because that still didn't get me "in".

I really did search the "book, but I couldn't find a section on dismantling the "cluster".

Is it just "start unscrewing everything?"

you have to take off the black plastic shroud in front of the gauge to remove it from the white.

this is of course off the RHD cluster i have. but same thing. and there are just a couple screws on the back that hold the gauge in.

Nice pictures, thanks.

Did you get the black part off by removing the screws from the white side I'm guessing?
Thanks for the help bro... I'll be taking a stab at it tomorrow...

Take off every screw you can see (except the tiny ones behind the gauges on the circuit board, since they hold the gauges in). Then unclip the air vents and there's screws hidden behind them. Take those out too. Then the black part should come off. You'll need to unscrew some wires if you didn't yet. Once the black part is off you can judge which of the tiny screws you need to take out to let the oil gauge come out. There are only two screws holding it in I think.

But yeah, you have to pretty much take the whole damn thing apart. It goes together easy though.

Cool, thats what I thought. I'm getting ready to dive in. I just hope I can remember how to put it all back together again when I'm done....
thanks mate!

The OilP gauge is nasty. It will fall apart once you remove the screws. I suggest you take lots of pictures as you go along. The other gauges come out in one piece and are easy.

yay
I have pressure again... But now that I have it, it sure doest seem like very much...
I guess this isn't a high oil pressure motor if I recall correctly.

Thanks to everyone who helped me get through this ordeal. I wonder what those two left-over screws were supposed to go...:nono:

Does anyone have a list of aftermarket guages that would replace stock ones? (oil pressure, boost, water temp) in the stock gauge cluster? I have tried to find info on this and I have only found modded ones, but cant tell if they fit.. umm.. plug and play like.
Gonna take my dash apart to do the heater core, and thought that would be an excellent time to actually put in proper gauges.

Seems to me, if you ever pull the cluster apart, that would be the wise thing to do.. however.. finding out which ones would work is a different story.
(hope that isnt hijacking the thread.. its all relevant)

There are no plug n play gauges for our dash. Every time you see someone with an upgraded gauge, it has been done with significant modification to the cluster.

OP: Perfectly normal to see low pressure. The engine doesn't require a lot of pressure and the gauge tends to read a little low. About all you can really use the stock gauge for is telling you ROUGHLY how much pressure you have. honestly, I wouldn't for much beyond telling you that you have at least 1 psi of pressure. beyond that, it's all a guess.

Maybe an isolated case???????? I have dismantled 4-5 clusters and never had a problem. I even have a stock oil pressure gauge in my shed now, maybe more. Maybe that happens in certain climates, IDK?
