So I tore out all the contaminated matting and got it cleaned up pretty well. I checked the master cylinder in daylight and it didn't look like it had any fluid loss, theres no way of knowing when the fluidloss happened in the first place so I'm just going to replace the master cylinder and the hose with ss as suggested.

I checked out the slave cylinder, and the metal thing that actuates the clutch fork just popped out. The only thing holding it onto the slave cylinder is the rubber boot. I take it im going to need a new slave cylinder?

The rod and the piston on the slave are seperate, nothing is wrong with it. I'd replace it anyway as you're replacing the master.

It's possible for the brake master to do it, but unlikely as it has to go through the booster. Not hard to check though, loosen the bolts on the master and pull it away from the booster. If it's dry, it's fine.
