has anyone measurd the distance from the oil pickup to the bottom of the pan? If you have then post your measurements. I plan to extend to length of the pickup tube.

No, that's shimming the spring inside of the oil pump.

We're talking about shimmin the oil pickup down further towards the bottom of the oil pan to reduce the risk of the pump running dry during a hard corner or braking situation ;).

For those curious about what a crank scraper does.

· Less rotating mass for the engine to accelerate because of the removed oil

· Less loss of power because of excessive drag caused by the windage cloud

· Helps reduce engine damaging oil-foaming

· Helps avoid oil starvation by keeping the oil in the pan during hard braking and turning as well as during off-road driving

· Helps to cool critical engine parts by quickly returning heated oil to the sump

· Helps to prevent the cylinder walls from being overloaded with oil

· Can help with fuel efficiency

If you have the motor on a stand, flip it upside down. Put a plastic baggie over the pick up screen, and put a block of clay on top of that. Put the pan on, with at least 2 bolts on each side to pull it down firmly to the block. Pull the pan, and measure the spuished clay.

I read somewhere on here that we can use the 2jz-gte pick up with our oil pump, though the post didn't go into detail about added length or any improvements it has over our pick up.

If anyone has any ground-breaking information about this, I'm interested.

i lowered my pickup deeper into the pan. you have to crush the screen in a bit. i can't remember the overall depth that it's at now, though.

sadly it does but you can do what i plan to do

the oil pick up is old crappy compare to the 2j one this is worth wheil mod if you have this pick up

any way the stock pickup is far to far away from the pan a simple play dough test will show i think i goig to go for about 5 mill off the bottom of the oil pan ( remmber when lowering you oil pickup it is good to get magntic oil plug )

all you do is weld on the new pickup on to the old picup tube

and presto she is done

so we started by cutting the screen off.... (i'm not worried about the screen) but here is the important factor, we must all agree what is a good height. I don't want a guess either. I do have a spare pan and block, so i will get the exact measurement. I'm going to cut the bottom off the pan and measure.

I come from a land down under
Quake: Yep there abouts, I leave the screen on and my Pan has a labyrinth around the pickup so I can keep it a little higher that I normally would.

10>15mm in a normal pan and if you remove the screen I'd trim the inlet so it's on an angle.
