Oil pump drive shaft bearings and hot tanking

I'm confused... Shouldn't a machine shop know what they are doing with hot tanking? I mean, aren't lots of blocks hot tanked? The 7m couldn't be the only engine with this problem right? So shouldn't the machine shop basically be excepting this to happen and know how to replace them...

Yes but they are a pain to install which
Means you generally have to pay for that....the bearings are fine right now and do not need replaced so I'd rather not replace them...but if I have too then so be it....just trying to avoid a big bill.

Speaking of which I droped the block off today...said he will look at it on Tuesday.

The more and more I think about it the more I want to hold off and just buy a turbo car though! It would be alot less work!
