oil problem!!!

hey guys well i just baught a ma70 and well the recent owner did his own last oil change and he managed to put alota oil!! and now.. the theres a major oil leak and oil in the intake into the intercooler and also my air filter!! well the air filter and the turbo still lookd clean but it still had a spec of oil also wen i i looked @ the top cam cover there was oil also in the center. but besides all that the car runs perfect i just need suome help on wut to doo first!!? im planning on draining the oil out this week and cleaning the bottem end cause of the oil and also power wash the motor and also what else should i doo and wut happened for this to happen?? to much oil? valve gaskets??

No power washing EVER. Oil in the center of the cam covers is a good sign that the valve cover gaskets need to be replaced, no biggie there. Oil in the IC piping is normal, thank the +15 year old PCV system for that, goes the same for the accordian hose. Do basic maintenace first before any performance mods (unless you are replacing a part that is worn out/needing replacing with a better, aftermarket mod).

thanx a mill man yeah i was gunna already replace the valve gaskets. but the oil underneath wut could i do with that?? and how should i clean it all up?? imma jakc up the car tonite to get underneath. is it the oil pan gasket? drain plug washer?

Can't say for sure, use degreaser on it. Put a dye in the oil specifically made for that purpose after you degrease everything, it will be obvious where the leak is then.

Please do not wash the motor, I did the same mistake and it took me 2 weeks to get this thing running right again. Just get you some rags or something and wipe everything down.

ooh thanks man. well i guess ill just degrease it and wipe it all down its really anoying when you find oil on the floor!

I've washed my engine bay 20+ times with 0 problems. Of course it was on my NA mkII, just dont use pressure and just spray it off and not 'soak' it. And keep it out of the plug gully with a towel thrown over it.

But I dunno. Maybe mkIII's are different.

Yea I made the mistake of pressure washing my engine... and wasnt sure why I was surprised when I went to do plugs + wires, and found my plug row full of water. I cant believe it even ran for 2 days... :O

I carefully pressure washed mine a few days before a dyno session and spent days tracking down a miss....... DOH

Plug wells had water in em.
