my engine is about at 4500 miles after a rebuild and the walls were in spect and new rings were installed....is there anything else this could be?????

i spent way to much to have it rebuilt to have to do it again this soon :(

i don't burn anything at idle and normal driving

that i could not tell you...

there are plenty of things i have done and alot of things i'm not scared to try but pulling a motor apart myself with no experience doing it before...

i took it to a shop, i talked to the guy working on my car almost daily but he never got into details such as actual mearured clearances. i was told the pistons have virtually no walk, that they were well within spec, and that there was really no problems putting it all back together and getting everything running again

is there anything that could cause it that does not include a problem with the piston heads or the piston rings.... perhaps in the top end??

when i got the car back i did not have this problem. it drove fine for about 3k miles i'd say there were a few bugs and kinkys to iron out in the 1st 500 but after that i was satisfied....till now of course

two things...what is that?? different weights when hot and cold??

second the problem has stopped for the time being...i stopped to help some lady jump her car and when i left traffice was all jammed up so i romped on it out of there and not a trace of smoke....drove it easy, normal, a little hard and to red line in the past two days....no smoke...

weird don't you think

it smoked a little not long after the rebuild....2K maybe and i asked someone on her about it and was told not to worry if it feels strong and i have no other problems it's probably the rings settling....could this still be the problem?? i was also told sometimes the rings never get settled correctlly and you smoke till you re-rebuild

John: "Friction Moddifed" Oil are ones with addative packs to reduce ta daaaa Friction!

Sometimes Teflon based and they make the rings and bore so slippery that the rings never seat and this glazes the bore so you can have a motor that gets blowby even though it's fresh! :(

so.... let me just start from the begining....

i had it rebuilt, drove it for 500miles, took it back for an oil change....drove it 3000miles and changed the oil myself....when i changed the oil i also swapped out the old soft lines as they were leaking a little bit....

now i don't know about at the shop, but i used moboil non-syn 10w30[the clean 5000 stuff, but i still change at 3k] but after 3500 miles shouldn't i be good to use a modified oil?? i was told rings seat at around 500-1500 or never

but like i said i got this problem about...infact i think i would say since i changed the oil....

would help anything to ditch the oil and get a single weight oil??

at current i get blow by only when i get on it or blow off and it dosn't always happen either.

as for detonating, i run 93 and rich....although i'd rather have the problem fixed than to use octan booster....

is it possible to....pull the head clean the bores and put back together?? would do the pistons need dropped to correct this??

this really is some sand in my lube!! i was just over charged to have the engine rebuilt.....anyone with a good way out of this please speak up

IJ you've been very informative, but how bout some good news[thats not about the money you saved on your car insurance]

John: Sadly the damage is already done if it's glazed the bores :(

Someone might have an idea how to correct it but if it were me I'd either put up with the blowby keeping it in mind that I can't push the motor to it's limits boost wise in case it detonates or I'd pull it hit it with a flex hone and rering it! (just had my block done while it's down for new rings there's a pic in my thread)

not hard but not like it's my step fathers ferrari either

i drove between idle and 3k and never redlined in those first 500 miles always let it warm up always let it cool down

but once again didn't have this problem till the 3500 mile oil change
