Oil Pressure sender thread Pitch?

I just got off the phone with prosport gauges, and i need to know what thread pitch the oil pressure sender is for my 7mgte. Ive checked the forums and couldn't find the correct answer to order the gauge and adapter.

Obviously in order to replace the sender unit with the new one i have to know the thread pitch that is on the block for the prosport adapter. Does anyone have the answer as to the thread pitch so i can find out what my oil pressure is looking like :aigo:??

Thanks,

Matt

I dont suggest Prosports sender gauge adapter kit. I broke one off in my block putting a new oil pressure sender in. Use the autometer adapter 1/8bspt to 1/8npt.

The best place to install the sender would be behind the powersteering pump just a few inches forward from the factory sender, from the factory its blocked off.

Is there a spot already for the new sender? The stock sender unit doesnt work so i was hoping to just replace it and be done with it. Im taking out the stock gauge and putting a 60mm gauge in its place cause i have no more room for gauges without modding my dash...

You can mount the sender in the factory spot but you will still need the adapter and the relocation hose prosport sells. Senders can melt if they are that close to that amount of heat.

Im ok with going autometer just do they have one that goes in the factory spot...well i suppose i could go look instead of being lazy lol.

You recommend autometer instead of prosport for the oil preasure though? ive got 4 other prosport gauges im using at the moment so im happy with them but am open to suggestions.

DRIFTMOTION sells a braided stainless adapter that is pre made.
It is listed under their 1jz section, but it works perfectly on the 7m.
I used it on my 77 celica 7m swap, using a autometer pressure sender.... Veryyyyy satisfied with the adapter!

It looks like a 10mm nut head right below the water pump, in line with the stock oil pressure sensor sticking out of the block main oil channel.
It's a 1/8" BSPT plug.

It's tough to see with the motor in the car...you might be able to use a small mirror from the top.

O, thought they where different or something? I got the autometer 1/8NPT- M10x1. the block's threads where pretty harsh on the adapter, and finally broke it off about three turns in...

NPT/NPS, M10x1, BSP/BSPT, and SAE (ex. 3/4 x 16) are all different thread forms, and generally incompatible with one another.

the block female threads were harsh on the adapter because the threads did not match. Properly matched threads should never be harsh to engage or tighten (with the exception of tapered threaded connections)

So i still would go with the autometer peasure sender and still need to find the correct thread pitch for that sender for the 7m block?

The stainless braided line would be forr going to the gauge i would assume? or im confused what i would need the stainlesss braided line for?

You tried to screw an NPT adaptor into a BSPT hole and wonder why it didn't work?

The Block is tapped BSPT nothing else will work as these are tapered threads and seal on the threads.
