That would be stock oil pressure. idle is like 3-5psi depending on engine condition and cleanance and at like 3k+ should be about 40psi.

even at 5k(RPM) the oil pressure is barley above high 20s)

Get a quality gauge on there. Could be the old wiring or old gauge making you think its low. Can rent a oil pressure tester gauge from kragen for free(you pay deposit and get it back when you return)

The oil pressure sending unit could be on its way out also.

Refer to the TSRM for oil pressure specs and other related checks/info.

The stock oil cooler basically limits your oil pressure to 40 PSI, and anything above about 4psi at idle is OK.

The stock oil cooler is a pressure based system that opens up around 40psi and bleeds oil off to the oil cooler and then drains back into the tank. It's normal.

Odd... my car seems to stay up to 40 psi at idle & then drops to 5psi... Might be that the wire i used to extend stock wire is too thick (couple of harness plugs were chopped when i got the car)

Well buy an aftermarket Gauge & sender & if it operates normal call it a day.

I have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on mine (autometer ultralite II) and it reads just above 25 PSI cruising (60-65mph and 2,700-3,000 RPM's) and just above 0 PSI at idle. My oil pump is also shimmed about 3 millimeters.
