Oil pan questions.

The 1jz from a 90-93(i believe) soarer has a rear sump. That's what I have in my 91 supra and it clears the crossmember fine.
fyi red87tII, my original post was stating that you can throw a jz engine into those cars (cressida, ae86, aristo, and certain soarer's) with a front sump pan, so if you find someone doing a jz swap into one of those cars, you can sell it to them.
Does your ECU have 3 rows of pins or 2
Did your 1JZ come with auto or manuel
If it came with front sump 3 rows of pins on the ecu and auto you will have some extra challanges.
If you have the option and can do this can you try and take your engine or clip back for the correct one? it might save you some headache down the road.

no ecu, just a harness. I have plenty of challanges ahead of me, like pushing the firewall back 5 inches and making this damn megasquirt.
the motor supposedly came from a 91 supra, but i cant prove it. It didnt come with a tranny but the car it came from was automatic so i have a niiicccee flex plate i am willing to sell someone for a reasonable fee...

Ok on that regard 99.5% of the JZA70 1JZ-GTE supras came with manuel on top of that your 1JZ-GTE haves a front sump system. That tells me it did not come out of a supra.
No you dont not need to move the firewall? do you have a 2JZ-GTE? it is 1.5 inches taller so it will stuff the turbos up higher hitting the firewall or touching it.

I think this swap will be a large PITA sounds like you have a soarer clip.
Again can you get the right one from the guy you bout this from?
did you pay only $200-1000 for this long block setup with out a ecu?
If you paid more and the guy knew you needed this for a supra you got scammed.
Time is precious can you take this back and get the right setup it will make wiring up the ecu easier and the sump setup will be right.

Well i guess i havent really said a whole lot about my set up... here goes.
I am no noob when it comes to fast cars, but i am a little new to supras. I have played around with my buddys mk3 but it was still 7m at the time. The truth is I come from the other side of the planet.. the rotary side.
So since i have managed to destroy two built 13b's in under 5k miles, I have decided it was time for a change, so i bought a 1jz. The motor is going in a FC3S RX-7, and i will be running a megasquirt EMS. I am also new to megasquirts but not to standalones and the wiring of them. I like to think of myself as a pretty decent fabracator...I am an mechanical engineering student at West Virginia University. here is a link to the motor that i bought...this is all the info i have till it gets here....

I plan to run the T04e 60 that i have been running on my FC. I was making low 400s @13-15psi on that set up so i am hoping for 450-460 on <20psi on pump gas. My 'team' currently has the record for being the fassstest pump gas 4 cyl.... heres a link.. www.tpgtuning.com
I will be doing a full write up on the install and build of this motor. Hopefully it goes pain free...

ok the ebay on that engine is for US $599.00 so you paid that or less for it.
No it was not in a supra or parts were changed on that engine. for that good of a deal and since it is not going into a supra keep it for that price!
For a RX7 this engine would be perfect because your going stand alone ecu so wiring will be just as much fun any other way.
Just correct your sump.

Buy 1 new from toyota 2JZ-GTE from what i here if you find a 2JZ-GE it can be modified to work. Its worth a shot but i dont think you will find to many 2JZ-GTEs supra lay out engines laying around in junk yards.

you will need the upper and lower pan not just the lower part where the drain plug bolts into but the whole thing including the Oil pick up as the sumps are located in Diff places. if you get a GE upper and lower it will work but you will have to figure out the oil feed to the turbos and tap the pan for the oil return...
