As far as using the same oil pump or getting a new one...as far as I am concerned, you changed things after you inspect them.
When you rebuild, do you just throw out your block or head without inpecting it in favor of a brand new head or block? Nope, no, you don't.
Use that same logic and see what you have first before spending money on a new pump that could very well have the same if not worse specs as your current oil pump.

Here is my post on this topic from the past (post 6):

If you don't have micrometers or feeler gauges, get some. They go for less than an oil pump new.
If you can't comprehend using a feeler gauge, then working on cars may be too complex for you. :p

BTW, if you want a real 7M-GTE Oil Pan, I can hook you up for $20 plus shipping. PM me if you want.

How do you "check" the oil pump, what do u look for anyway?

In the link tony posted, the second post that points to the tsrm lists all the specs you need to check the pump.

I'd say if the pump is in spec just use it, I checked and reused mine with no problems.

change the oil pump, why not the bearings, why not the pistons and rings, I might as well just rebuild, the point of a low miles motor is not to replace everything

aha! now youre learning something. (i would have it rebuilt...)

At 63000 miles my cousin's 4runner v-6 oil pump broke a gear inside the pump. She was driving down the freeway at about 65mph. It flew apart and damaged the bottom end so bad, she had to get the motor rebuilt.

The dealer, and Toyota factory would NOT help her out. The engine warranty ran out at 60000 miles. Those bastards !!!:evil2:

I would change it because you already had ONE engine go bad because of oil pressure problems. Think of it as insurance.:biglaugh:
