My old boss would always say: "You have to be smarter than what your working with"

I have seen many mechanics swear that cork gaskets are pure junk, yet I have never had a problem with them. Chevy small block valve covers for example. They are just thin metal and most people seem to forget this. Seems like the metal is always "dimpled or raised" around the bolt hole due to the last installer over tightening the bolts and most do not hammer this area flat before glueing on a new cork gasket.

Now the gasket is really only touching the head around the bolt holes. People see it starts leaking and tighten it up even more splitting the gasket and causing even more leaks.

Is the due to a shitty gasket or an opperator error... :)

i used cork befor never had a leak at all i do is just add a thin layer of sicone or other rvt what ever

used rtv this time around and it leaked most likly cause of lack of cleaning

nothin will seal if oil is present aka oil drip off form the block

so this time goiugn to rub down in the isaid of the block so i don't get much drip down

beleav me or not that is what really cause's leaks
this is whats cause's all leaks
