FOLLOW THE TSRM.

if you follow it exactly, your oil pan wont leak.

this includes checking the oil pan sealing surface for flatness.

be sure to follow the proper torque sequence and it wont leak.

Key point there. If it's not flat, it won't seal.

I come from a land down under
It's VERY sticky ;)

It's a bit hard to quantify it just seems to work better than the alternatives and I've never had a leak using it, having said that it is a PITA to remove once cured.
(I could easily run my car with no pan bolts once it's gone off)

that 3bond stuff is very interesting. but fipg itself is still very good stuff and holds up for a very long time. dont use a cork gasket it was never intended for this car and sealent works much better. even old chevys use sealant around the front and rear mains and then cork on the sides and the sides are where they leak mostly!

I've sealed a few oil pans with Permatex The Right Stuff, and never had problems with leaking. I've also used the Toyota FIPG, the FIPG has a better shelf life once opened then the Right Stuff does.

I heard this is great, my schools' Mustang uses this and our teacher says this is a fantastic product, our mustang never leaks oil.

Remember to follow directions...

You're supposed to let the sealant set for a bit and then put the pan on, can't tell you how many times I've seen people get leaks from not reading directions...

My engine builder used both (I hope it never leaks, I HATE LEAKS) cork gasket (Felpro) with FIPG on both sides of the cork.

Id did that the first time i stuck my motor in and it leaked pretty good. Didn't leak at first but after a few weeks it started leaking. Left black spots all over the driveway..Sucks having to take the motor out of fix the freaking oil pan..

I found a gasket on german ebay. It is made out of thick oil resistant rubber - not cork.

Maybe I'll use that together with the liquid stuff.
