Me and my friend Kris ( mk3_300) are looking for the oil pan baffles. I just did multiple searches on here and found nothing but baffles in the turbo and baffles in the fuel tank/cell....LOL

anywho, who makes them ( adjuster?) and how much?

thanks,

Jonathan Mann

I'd be interested in getting some of these as well if anyone makes them. Just for piece of mind flying around corners that I won't lose oil feed.

I saw them on ebay around 2 months or so ago for $49.00 + shipping. All billet AL or steel ( cannot remember).

They were for sale on here as well...but for some odd reason there is nothing pertaining to oil pan baffles when I search here or at Supra Forums.....weird.

Oh crap....yes, the crank scrapers...not the oil pan baffles LOL...

Thats what it was shaeff, they were on here before the hack! thanks so much....

now, does anyone have any info on the crank scrapers too?

How much does a crank scraper benefit that lubrication system? I remember seeing it installed and everything but what exactly does it do?

-Less rotating mass for the engine to accelerate because of the removed oil
-Less loss of power because of excessive drag caused by the windage cloud
-Helps reduce engine damaging oil-foaming
-Helps avoid oil starvation by keeping the oil in the pan during hard braking and turning as well as during off-road driving
-Helps to cool critical engine parts by quickly returning heated oil to the sump
-Helps to prevent the cylinder walls from being overloaded with oil
-Can help with fuel efficiency

So is the crankscraper worthwhile to install during a rebuild? I'd hate to have one more thing that I could have done on the cheap that may have paid off later, ya know?

I clicked the link in GrimJack's post and got an e-mail back from Kevin Johnson right away!

Here is his reply>

Hi Ian,

The standard steel scraper runs $49.95 delivered in the USA (+$10 for shipping internationally) and the Teflon version runs $149.95 with the same shipping terms. If you are a Florida resident we must also charge you 7% sales tax.

Thanks for asking!

Kind regards,

Kevin Johnson

For me the teflon scraper makes a lot of sense as it's full contact!
(Price difference isn't that much considering the Teflon one is far more complex!)

Thats what I am saying! I always thought if someone would make one out of Delrin or teflon, just for friction and heat soaking sake! And they DID!

My new motor ( buying the block and head REALLY SOON) is going to have the teflon one! I am going to make a custom oil pan as well, with some nice baffles.

anywho, back on the subject!

Seeing as my build is stalled while I find a good block and crank I've been considering making an Aluminium Pan...... (it'll also give me some hours on the New Tig so I can figure out what all the controls do) ;)

Threadjack...

I'd LOVE to see someone duplicate the oilpan with 'wings' posted over on the Doc's tech site! Get on it... ;)

I am purchasing a "new" block and crank VERY soon as well! I am going to build up a nice 7m to take the boost, about 30psi??!!??.

But I want a good broad powerband and a high rev limit, about 7500-8K rpm, which is obtainable given the rod/bore/stroke ratio is about the same as a 2jz...( not touching on the 1jz/2jz stroke s*** again :biglaugh: ).

has anyone taken note of the later 7mge/gte heads from the 91-92 are different from the pre-90 supra 7mge/gte heads? the ports are visually bigger ( as in the divider area ).....never seen this discussed but I witnessed it in person at my friends house, and the exhaust manifolds are STRONGER on the later 7m heads? they dont crack?. He used to have a mk3....514whp on pump gas!!! He blew about 5 motors ( 7mgte) until he figured out all the quirks of the motor...currently he has a TT Z, which he is not that happy with...he misses the supra.

Not wanting to open that canOworms again (86mm Vs 91mm) With the right valvetrain the 7M should see 8000 easily.

I have a brand new last production head here (casting number 16 from memory) And the dividers are much shorter and the ports are a bit ugly as cast!

I figure with my GT3540R going positive @ 2000 and making useable boost from 2500 on this will give me 2500>8000 to play in and with the 4.10 diff gears it should accelerate well if I can find some traction.

Top end if it will go to 8000 in 5th will be 213 mph.

<edit> Just heard back from Kevin looks like I'm ordering the 1st 7M Teflon scraper!
