I just had (350 miles ago) a titan motorsports 2.0 mhg installed in my 7mgte. Car seems to run and drive great. It dyno'd at 397 to the whhels about a week ago. I noticed a couple of days ago that the sides of the motor are all shiny. The rear area of the manifold side and center of the intake side. Motor has only 35k on it. It isn't enough to be dripping on the ground, but enough to make me wonder. The head was machined and the block was checked and good. I had a shop install the head gasket. All of the upper end gaskets were replaced at the same time. any help is appreciated.

Aaron: did the shop that installed it torque the head to factory specs?
Also, cheack you r valve covers... Are you using the stock "screw head" bolts?

It doesn't seem to be coming from the valve covers, but can the mhg leak slightly between the layers of the head gasket.
Was the aluminum front plate machined when the block was decked?
Did the shop use RTV on the top of the front plate? Take your plastic timing belt cover off and see if there is oil down the front.

as far as I know, the block wasn't decked, but checked and tuned up by hand. I told them that it had to be perfect for the mhg and they told me that they checked the block and it was good, and that the head was machined.
I will take that cover off tommorrow and check, but for now there is no oil any where on the exterior of the front of the motor.

The RTV doesn't impact the MHG seal...it is there to prevent oil from running out the front of the head.
What's weird is it's down the sides of the motor...even if it was leaking at this location, the only way it could get to the sides is by being blown. I'm thinking Reign is more on target with the valve cover gaskets leaking due to improper torque holding them in place.
One other thought...I've never seen a Titan MHG...does it have rivets holding it together like a Cometic? If so, those should be removed and can affect the seal if left on. That is the only way I can think of that a head with a MHG would seep oil down the sides.
yes, I think there was rivets. Do they all need to be taken off? If so, what holds the layers together, there would then be a bunch of seperate layers not held together. Anyone else know if the rivets have to be removed on a titan motorsports 2.0mhg?
The spec sheet that came with the Titan MHG should tell you that 
I know with the Cometic, the rivets have to be removed....the MHG is aligned with two dowel pins on the front/rear of the block. They index to holes in the head.

If the rivets protrude from the top and bottom layers of the gasket (and I'm betting they do) they need to be removed. It would be best to remove all of them. don't worry about the different layers being held together, the tourqe will keep them in place, not to mention the studs will do the job too .
IDK about the particular headgasket you're using, but I'm guessing it's got a layer of viton on it. If so, ALL of that will have to be removed from the entire gasket before you put it back on. Us a copper spray sealer to help the headgasket seal back up. Don't forget to clean the head and block so it's viton free.
