Oil inside IC pipe and near turbo manafold

Typically, I've read and been told that oil in the IC piping (pooled oil) means that the turbo seal went and the turbo needs rebuilding/replacing. I just spoke with the company that sold me the 50 trim upgraded turbo and they said that the turbo is likely bad, but they want to check it out for $100 to determine the cause of the turbo going (since it's only got 10k miles on it with 10psi of boost).

My questions is, should I spend the money to diagnose the problem? Bring the car to the Toyota dealership that has been servicing it for me to diagnoses the problem in case its something other than the turbo that cause the turbo to go?

Or just order another turbo, strap it on, and call it good?

There is Oil in the IC piping and some spray next to the turbo near the manifold. I just made the switch to synthetic just in case this has anything to do with it. The crate motor has about 10k on it. Oil has gone down about a cort in a month. All suggestions welcomed and thanks in advance.

If you take it to toyota you might as well just buy another turbo. They'll poke your eyes out. Sounds like your turbo seal went out plain and simple. The oil spraying is from a bad gasket more than likely, and the turbo just failed. send it back and have them rebuild it. If that is a ct26 upgrade buy the turbo gasket kit from driftmotion, and call it a day. The gasket kit is like $12 make sure when you put the gasket that goes on the oil line you put both gaskets the paper on and the metal one and you should be good to go.

well why would you want to spend 100 just to look at the problem. isn't your turbo still under warranty? cause with only 10k thats still roughly low and no boost more then 10 that turbo should last you a while.

but also you should check your valve cover gasket see if its leaking from there,

i would say bring it to toyota and narrow it down before buying new parts that might not need to be replaced.

The turbo has 10k on it, but its 3 years old, running on a 1 year warranty. So the coverage expired.

I'll double check the valve gaskett, but I don't remember seeing oil there when I was looking for where the "oil smell" was coming from.

I was thinking of having toyota diagnose the problem and then just fix it on my own depending on what it is. My brother, an mk4 owner, is saying save the 100bux and buy an upgraded turbo from Driftmotion.

If you want to stay 50 trim you could go on driftmotions thread and ask big aaron if he could fix it for you, if all it needs is seals i cant imagine it would be more that a couple hundred bucks, as he only charges 500 to turn a regular ct into a 50-57 trim and that includes a complete rebuild, boring out the compressor housing and a new compressor wheel.
Your other option is just buy a new 50-57 trim from driftmotion. You can sell your turbo here to get some extra dollars but be sure you fully disclose any problems such as this, so your not screwing anyone over.(you would think this goes w/o saying but i just bought trash ct on here that was described as mint, no shaftplay) There are guys that rebuild them on here and would likely buy it.

Switch to synthetic did nothing. Unlike rebuilt engines you can run turbos on synthetic from day one.
