how do you guys normally get all the oil out of your spark plug wells. any tricks? my valve gasket is leaking oil in there and making car miss and dye on idle. just thought i could see if you guys could save me any hassle when i fix it tommorrow.

^ :icon_bigg ^ Good job Fuzz.

If you know anybody who works in a lab or dr's office, or somebody who has access to a high school or university chem lab, ask them for a handful of disposable transfer pipets. They look like mini turkey basters, are cheap in 500 and 1000 packs, and many labs have boxes of them. I use them for a bunch of things around the house, and they were perfect for getting the oil out of my spark plug valley. They fit really well in a small place like that and a dozen or two will last a long time if you reuse them.

I heard not to re-use old pipets, or you risk infection. But w/e if you gotta do it you gotta do it I guess.:icon_razz

This is a good thread right here.
I used those blue shop towels on a roll. They're tough lil bastids.
Soak them in simple green and clean up in there after you've removed all the oil.

ok sounds like a pretty quik fix but let me ask you this. i just put a new hg on and had the turbo rebuilt and i am just sorting out small problems. my car stutters real bad at full throttle, cant get past 3500, but if i ease into it, it still stutters but i can get past 3500rpm. i know the oil is greatly contributing to this, but will it make it fall on its face. sorry i am asking this being that i will fix tomorrow and find out, but its hard to sleep with out some reassurance. ya know what i mean?

Oil is a pretty good dielectric, so i don't think its your problem. Are your ignition wires in good shape? No cracks, frays, etc. Any black smoke out the back.... boost leak?

no black smoke and wires are good. no codes exept an 11 the other day when car idled down and dyed. no boost leak.

i was just trying to fix my oil leak just a minute ago.i had my silicone on my head and my valve covers on and was tightening them down when noticed one of two was warped. i noticed as soon as i was tightening down the last one and the flange on the valve cover cracked and split. so know i am fucked. dammit to hell why cant anything be easy.

Heehee...the wives just don't understand. I created a "Supra Slush Fund" that the wife has no clue exists...it makes parts magically appear!
