The valve cover bolts get loose overtime in my supra. How do i prevent that from happening? I always have to tighten them every couple months. Ive cleaned out the oil before in the plug gallery but i just want to know is there any way to stop the valve cover bolts from becoming loose?

Thanks

SupraSport.com makes replacements for the stock ones.

And if you search, you'll find out oil in your gallery isn't always from the valve cover screws.

But the replacements for the stock screws are the best money you could spend on your car period.

The rubber grommets that go in between the heads of the bolts and the valve covers need to be spongey still. Did you replace those when you replaced the gaskets?

tomorrow i am going to do a full tune up and tighten up all the valve cover bolts. Should i change anything else that would stop the bolts from becoming loose. On my brothers MKIII it does the same thing. The valve cover bolts become loose.

dont overtighten them or you will crack the valve cover. Thats why the stock valve cover bolts are actually phillips head screws. Very difficult to overtighten those......

If you have new rubber grommets on the screws and new gaskets under the covers and it is still leaking then your gaskets may not be seated correctly, you have debris under the gaskets or you might have a crack in the cover itself.

i tighten the cover bolts and drained all the oil on the spark plug gallery but there is still a little oil in plug 1 . I am going to do a valve cover gasket change. Should that do it or should i look for other stuff? Waht else could it be?

Maybe spilled a little oil when filling it?
