I just rebuilt my 7mgte, ran it for about 600 miles, took the intercooler line off the 3000 pipe and found oil in it. Does this mean oil is blowing past the bearings in the turbo? (no oil found in the intake side of the turbo)

usually , people found oil at lower intercooler pipe , but you found it at upper intercooler pipe ; which mean alot of oil in your intercooler . There are two things that cause oil in your intercooler #1 pcv valve and #2 turbo oil seal blew , if your accordian hose dirty with oil then it's pcv valve but if accordian hose look clean , it must be turbo oil seal blew ;check for shaft play .

The turbo spins with a little resistance (very slight) but the shaft seems to have no play. There is a very light coating of oil from inside the valve cover vent line.

Then it must came from valve cover vent line . Drain and clean oil out of your intercooler and lower intercooler pipe and then do oil catch can mod like other people've done if you don't want any more oil in intercooler .:icon_bigg

who rebuilt it? what finish did they useon the cylinder walls? check for excessive blowby...
easy way it to start the car and pull the oil cap off and see how much air comes out.

also why did you rebuild? its possible the oil is left over from whatever catastrophic event caused the rebuild.
