Oil? Does anything really bad happen if you have the oil level above full?

You'd be perfectly fine with 1.5 quarts over full. How far over full can you go before it becomes an issue with the crank dipping into the oil, causing PCV problems, etc.? A Lot.

Like I said, A LOT ;).

It would really be a waste of money to go anything over 1.5 quarts extra, unless you were running two extra large oil filters with a big ass oil cooler.

Yeah, I really didn't think anything would happen. I just changed my parents oil and they freaked out cuz it was like 1 quart over!!! So, they made me make sure nothing would happen.:3d_frown:

Too much oil = mo pressure = mo leakin sealz yo.

I overfilled my oil, started a drive, 5 or so mins later the oil pressure peaked the stock guage high enough that the needle fell off the center and the car was smoking and running like ass. I had to drain a lot of the oil out and let it sit and eventually the car was running normal again. On the 'ol GE of course.

20w50 :\ . I don't remember the name but it's the same kind I always used from the local auto parts store (Not Autozone, these people actually know their stuff). I don't think that was the problem as much as the fact that I overfilled by over a qt. iirc. It was a while ago lol :)

I think that has a lot more to do with running a thicker oil than you would ever possibly need in a 7M versus filling it one quart over full. Maybe you should browse jdub's SME section? ;)

Ummm just HOW does more oil = more pressure and leaking seals?
(a hint here is there are NO seals in a 7M under direct pump pressure)

+1qt hurts NOTHING my guess is a modded PCV system.

Got to love people that just pass along bad info because it sounds technical, eh IJ?

Yep...got a thread on this exact subject (using a 20W-50) in the SME section. Over filling by a quart will in no way cause leaks...neither will running a 20W-50. Like IJ said, there are no seals in the motor under direct oil pressure. Not a big fan of running thick oils, but for other reasons ;)
