My oil is disappearing from god knows where. i have replaced the valve cover gaskets, drain plug (with new gasket), checked to see if my filter was tight, replaced the oil hose on the right valve cover (down to the crankcase), and can't see any obvious drips or leaks anywhere. it's not burning any oil, no blue smoke or smell. where could it be going?

if its disappearing real slow its pretty normal man

but if its like 1 qt a week THEN you have a problem

edit:: damn 1 qt every 3 weeks is pretty fast

are you on stock CT? if so check your oil return line from the turbo and on the block side

mine leaked 1 qt every month from there

Your front subframe isn't grimed up is it? Maybe check your inlets on the exhaust manifold for oil? But then again, you'd see the smoke probably if that was the case... Rear main seal? look around your tranny. Did you check the spark plug galley when you replaced your valve cover gaskets? Look at you spark plugs and see if they have oil on them. Also, check around your fuel rail and bottom runner on the intake manifold for oil buildup.

If you park it overnight on a clean area does it leave any drips? If no, you must be burning it.

My cars went from 1qt/1000 miles to <0.5qt/5000 miles after I replaced the valve seals. The only time you would ever see smoke was briefly after a cold start when the car had sat for a few days.

valve stem seals are bad on these engines, you have 4 of them for each cylinder that can leak LOL

when I took my head apart (about 150K miles on the engine) all that was left of the valve stems was the metal cover to them and the little spring...no actual seal material left...

Do you have the stock engine undercover in place? I've got a leak right now that I haven't had the time to fix yet. It leaks out of the timing belt cover, pools into the undertray, pours out of the tray at speed... so, I don't leak oil where I park, but when I start moving it runs out of the tray.

I do agree that valve stem seals are a possibility, but when mine were going I had smoke when starting cold... do you?

That is what I was thinking too. He is just burning it. A higher mileage car burns more than a lower milage car.

The guy starts burning a little oil and you all start calling out blown head gasket.
