I purchased a used oil cooler system for my 7mge engine. I have a couple of questions. The oil filter adapter has a top mount bolt location, but my block is not drilled for this bolt. Should I go a head and drill the block and tap the hole for this bolt? The guys at the dealership said DO NOT drill the block for it will crack. I think it is only there to prevent the oil filter adapter from twisting. Also, the oil filter adapter has a built in relief valve. Is this valve pressure sensing or temperature sensing. I think the valve should be temperature sensing, but I can not find any information.
Thanks
Ted

Do you mean the pin that stops the stock adaptor rotating?

I wouldn't use the GTE adaptor on anything as you've noted the Cooler port is pressure based you'll be much better off with a full flow T Stat based system.

Okay.

On the oil filter housing theres a bolt that houses a spring that looks like it bolts onto the block but doesn't. It's Pressure based and if i were you i'd go with a thermo based. ;)

The oil return goes to the oil pan.

Go with IJ's advice, and try this.
