I dont want to start a p*****g match with a seasoned member. But to give some data, I live in the PNW where its like average 40* this time of year and with just a remote mounted filter, no thermostat block, my oil temps would stabalize around 190/195 while crusing and climb to 215* or so climbing a grade in 6th. Doing a 1/4 mile I didnt see oils temps climb that high really, and that was at 650whp at an 11.4/129mph. Maybe 7m's are different.
Now with the stock water cooler in place, i get to temp faster and and dont climb as high pulling a grade.
In TX, what oil temps are you seeing on average?
I was unaware of the MK3's cooling system limitations. I had a 91 with some mods and drifted the crap out of things and didnt have any cooling issues at all.
This is a good read. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/motor-oil-101/
