How do you know it was low? Did you check it before driving?

When I got the car home after the incident (I didnt know it was blown yet) I was going to drain the oil and look for metal...pulled the plug and barely any oil came out (maybe 1 quart). So I pulled the spark plugs and put some dowel rods in each cylinder then rotated the crank by hand (could only go about 50 degrees) and all the dowel rods except the #2 were moving...So I pulled the motor and tore it down and found the culprit.

It had only been 2600 miles since the last oil change, I always parked it in my driveway and had zero drips. It is possible that I burned 5 quarts...but unlikely.

So you didn't check before driving. I was just wondering. You aren't the first, don't take my comment personal.

I didnt check it before driving...I figured the dealer did it right and i never saw any leaks so didnt even think about it...young and foolish I was

I now check the oil level everytime I get gas
