well finally got all the bugs worked out and i went for another quick 5 minute drive.
Well I ge back pop the hood to put the top timing cover on and I notice oil kinda all over the belts and timing gears and such.

I instantly know the problem but I double checked to be sure. it is coming from between the front of the head and the block(yah know where ya put silicone)

Yah I was interupted when i was about to do that step then when i started working again i accidently skipped it.

Here is my question and sorry bout the long post. Can I just silicone under thefront and real good between the head and upper rear timing cover or do i have to pull the head back off.

Usually takes awhile to come from there, but I I forgot to do the same thing. After fixing 3 BHGs, I shoulda known better. Took about 6 months before I started leaving BIG oil puddles everywhere I went.

Only way to fix it, is to remove the head. I doubt that you will be able to reseal it properly by just pulling the timing cover. Don't waste time fooling around with quick fixes... this is one of those "little" gotchas, which causes ALOT of rework.

Good luck!

I didnt put any silicone there and it was not leaking oil at all. After a turbo rebuild i was stupid enough to not put the hose to the accordian from the pcv right and i blew the cam seals out. It was leaking from those cam seals it a 20 minute job take upper timing cover off and turn car on see if the oil is coming from right behind the camseals. If it is change seals problem fixed.

How long has it been since you did yours? I thought I was good for about 6 months.. then the leaking started. Canged all the front seals, thinking that would do... but it wasn't enuff. It was where I skipped that step. Leaking from between the head/block. I even had some ARPs on there, with a Fel-Pro headgasket. The head had been machined and all.

It may not ever leak at all, but it's something you should definitely keep your eye on... I've never heard of it not eventually leaking from there, if you did not use RTV. may just be a matter of time and how you drive. Mine didn't spit it out, 'cept for when I was doing fun "redline" or high-speed driving.

After it started to leak... just got worse.

So i pulled off the rear upper cover and its dry around the cam seals but wet betweeen the block/ head area.

Siman are you talking about the face plate tthat the both rear timing covers mount to

Fel-Pro HG... hmm..
Buy a Toyota one this time.

In this latest 7M, MHG... but came with Toyota head bolts. I have a new set of ARPs waiting to go on there... after the FFIM is installed (C'Mon Ron ;-).

well this puzzle is solved the problem was the cam seals were not seated in the bottom so what was happening was it was running down makin it appear to be comming from the block

i don't know whet the hell all you are talking about with silicone between the head and block, only thing that should be there is a mhg. I've done lots of head gaket jobs, never put any silicone in there, none have leaked from there. cam seals though....whole 'nother story, happened once, definately your problem.
