I was really impressed with the MKII class this year. That silver car was cleaner than most MKII's were in 1986. And Ryan's car did sound very good. But those were not the only two that I liked a lot. I was also insulted when the guy driving it on the dyno started beeping the horn, as if to make fun. I never met that guy, but he seemed pretty cool tho. I just thought that was in poor taste.

True, BUT..........This man has put a lot of work into this car, and HE loves it! Not to mention he paid his money, and was the first one to stand up and get his car on the dyno when it was already an hour behind schedule. He Earned my respect, but will no doubt ever do much convincing to the MKIV crowd.......O'Well

I'd take hard earned dollars, and effort over rich boy writes SP a check anyday

^ I only dyno first so no one has been up already to make me look bad. :icon_bigg

No amount of work/money will impress the mkIV crowd, maybe some, but never all.

I here ya Scott but I thought he was doing that to signal the guy on the computer inputing settings. Something about not getting an rpm/speed signal?? If I heard wrong & you are correct then I would be insulted also.

You were closer to the action than me............maybe there was a good reason for it. Like I said, I thought the guy was pretty cool.

Glad to hear you got the car going Steve, and didn't have to spend any extra nights to get it worked out.

^LOL.

Well you guys have yet to mention my probably favorite MKII there.

The desert style burnt orange with the original style black ass end.

I loved that car

The white one was absolutely sexy, too. :biglaugh:

Holy cow.

The horn honk thing was MINIMAL compared to what they did last year when they dynoed Chris' (I think) White 2J-T SC300.
There was a HUGE crowd recording all the dyno pulls, and they put a huge blow-up penis about 6 foot tall with a smiley face on the tip of it and had it sticking out of the sunroof during the pulls. Everyone was quite confused as all the other SP guys just laughed.

:dunno:

It was entertaining, nonetheless, but still very inappropriate for the scenario and the little kids that were around asking mommy and daddy what the hell was sticking out of the sunroof. :p

I'll find a picture...Hold on a sec!

*EDIT* FOUND IT! :biglaugh:

What, you thought I was kidding? :icon_conf

Don't get me wrong, the SP car was badass.... but it is a racecar, nothing more.... and it won what, two awards Sunday....

That SP car was extremely nice. It's beautiful on the outside, has a very nice look on the interior, and could get you laid everytime you opened the hood. If it was a little quieter, I'd drive it on the streets. They only want $95,000 for it, maybe I'll have enough left over for a good muffler.lol

^ I'll stick to my smooth moves getting me laid, not my car (this is of course metaphorically speaking, since I'm married and all). But seriously, if you need a $20,000 car turned $90,000 car to get you laid you need to invest in cosmetic surgery or lower your standards.

I'm going to assume you were joking, but still...

^ Too many? Hell go to any local-ish car show (around here anyway) and cars that are less than 2 years old win awards... 'woooo you kept your car clean.... congrats on being so bad-ass.'

I remember one car show that my buddy entered years ago with his tricked out second gen Integra.... Someone with a brand new Sunfire won an award...

If I would have known they were going to honk the horn, I would have hooked up my 118db Hellas.... damn, what a missed apportunity...

I have always dis-agreed with shop owned cars competing with those of us who work 8-5 jobs and suffer in other areas to be able to build our cars. Also, I agree with Ryan that grouping all the Supras together is BS. My eyes were opened at this meet to the fact that even if my MKIII could talk, jump rope, and run a 6 second quarter mile........it's still not getting any attention until it resembles an eclip......MKIV

Yep, like the story I was telling...
I was a Nopi in 2000 I guess, and was going to dyno my 90T. The car was an auto and I had removed the shifter trim and put a 5 speed shift boot in its place with an aluminum shift knob. Well, the dyno guys first thought it was nothing because it wasn't a MKIV and second because it was an auto.

I had the torque convertor built and had the Blitz boost controller gain set a little high. Well, when it hit boost the car jumped on top of the front rollers and the operators' eyes about came out of their heads. They then added straps and tightened the ones that were already on the car.

They learned their lesson. I thought the car was going to shoot into the wall.
