Odd turbo? noise.

Alright so every once and a while after I have been idling for whatever reason, after I start again and go under boost this really odd noise can be heard. It sounds semi when under boost. Then once I have gone through boost a few times the sound stays away again. When the car isn't at operating temp but is warm and under boost it never makes that noise. Only when it is at operating temp and only after idling. Is this the sound of my turbo dieing? Or is it something eles in the engine bay? Or am I just being paranoid and should think nothing of it?

The engine is a 1G-GTE for what it is worth... Minor mods... Cat-back and apexi intake.

Any help would be great.

1ggte is twin turbo isn't it? And I'm sad to say but 1g supras are really fucking rare and very little is known about them here in the states. I hope someone can help you but not many of us canadia/Americans know what stock 1g sounds like or even how to work on them.

Ya I found out shortly after putting a down payment on the car and committing to buying it. But live with mistakes and continue on... The body is pretty good shape.. So maybe a 1J swap?

Personally I'd keep it just to be different! Just sucks cause parts are damn near impossible! 7m, 1j, 2j are all good motors and easier to work on that's for sure!

Oh ya I will keep it for the time being but if anything major ever goes wrong with it and I am fucked for parts, I will totally keep the shell and drop a different engine in there. Live and learn right?

have you changed the oil, fluids, checked injectors anything that hasent been changed or checked up on lately? what kind of noise does it make, ticking???.....

...and i also have a 1ggte and i think the same way, unless it blows up or anything major happens to it im just gunna get me a 1JZ swap, thats my plan anyways=] f'd up part is, the car is getting wired up right now, and i know the engine is healthy, but i have yet to drive it to see how it feels! im not expecting a lot of power so if you can please elaborate on how the car pulls or if its simply slow i'd really appreciate it! not trying to thread jack im just curious!!

I don't really have anything to compare my 1G too so I would say it pulls alright? I wouldn't put it on the same scale as the 7m or 1j. I feel it is a pretty nice car for a 18 year kid to be driving...

I guess you can call me an 18 year old "kid" you probably are older than me but thanks for the answer i guess=) But it sounds to me like your turbo(s) might be going out if everything was inspected and its still sounding like a "semi". If its not the actual turbo's then it could be gaskets that need to be replaced or something is loose causing your turbo's to not work at their full potential. You should check or have someone check the turbo's for shaftplay. As the for the idleing it would be a good idea to check carb(might need to be cleaned) and the one coil to the dizzy, thats if your timing is'nt off and the spark plugs have already been checked.
