Yea sounds like a valve tap to me also, maby take a close look at your fan to shroud
clearance. Sure noisy all over. My last running Supra was a mk3 with hood open you
could only here a bit of fan noise. Sure miss that car.
Dose the motor shake at all. Maby a vid from the top would be helpfull. Muzy

Any luck on finding the root cause of your issue? I seem to have the same issue and troubleshot the noise to come from the crank area. I simply used a hose as a stethoscope and after "hearing" around the whole engine I eventually found the noise to be coming from the crank area.

Thanks,

I've heard cat's do the same thing but you said it isn't at any other rpm right? Get a stethescope or a long screwdiver and put it to your ear on the valve cover to see if it is in the valve train. Also, put your timing back to 10 degrees and see if that helps. To me it sounds like you may have a slight rod knock due to the advaced timing and when you shut it down it's desieling a bit. If none of that, maybe a wrist pin?

I will try the stethoscope.

The reason i don't think it would have to do with the flywheel or clutch is because when i depress the clutch the noise does not change at all.
