Just bought this radiator hose kit on ebay for $45, shipping was $11. Came to my house in one day very well packaged. Do silicone hoses expand after installing? Reason being it seems like a tight fit.

Nope, that's just how the OBX hoses are. Not sure if the Mishimoto's are any better or not. The Samco hoses I know for a fact are the correct diameter. Too bad the lower hose isn't the correct shape for the 7M. I bought the OBX kit soley for the lower hose since I'm not comfortable stretching the Samco. Once I noticed the OBX's small diameter; I had my reservations. However, I've heard of other's using these hoses without issues. Just be sure to push them on all the way and clamp then tight!

The fact that it bottlenecks the rest of the cooling system is bothersome. Can anyone comment if this would reduce cooling efficiency?

I was referring to the SAMCO; since the kit is designed for the 1J, the lower hose needs to be stretched to fit. The OBX hoses are 7M specific and should have no fitment issues. Just a tight fit.
