wow! Jeff is retired? Is there someone taking his place? Or is it just who ever answers the phone? Or is it buy some where else?

He retired about a month or two ago, it's recent.

Mike on SF seems to take care of people, he's been doing the online stuff for a couple years.

If I need something from a USA dealer I usually speak with Curt at Elmhurst.

Lower speedo cable through Toyota in Clarksville TN is about $15. Had him order me one. Now I have to wait and see if he can get his grubby hands on the clips I need and the screw backings.

I did manage to get all the windsheild, drip rail, and hatch moldings, suprising enough they were in stock. Only parts that I remember that I needed that were disc. were the spoiler pads and the timing belt, it didnt even show a good number in our EPC anymore.

Are you talking about the targa drip rails or hardtop? Where can I get them? My bodyshop says they can't find the targa drip rail mouldings(Also need the A pillar mouldings), and the big vertical ones at the rear of the door glass.

He says he can't find a passenger side front mudguard either, WTF? Shit seems to be going downhill fast on these cars, lol.

I *just* bought a new set of targa drip rails from Mark at Vancouver Toyota in Washington state. Try him, he's awesome.

Got this email from my dealer...

"The drivers side targa drip moulding should be here on Wednesday (last one in the country). The passenger side is discontinued. I think that supramania mod got lucky and ordered one of the very last parts available, just like you are getting the very last driver side moulding available."

Argh...maybe you can ask your guy Mark what he thinks about this? Don't make no damn sense, there's thousands of these cars around...

Thousands of old cars that people don't order OEM parts for anymore. It makes sense, but I can check for you, which drip rail exactly? The one ON the Targa roof, or on the A-pillar, or which?

The A-pillar drip rails are still available, left and right. The ones on the targa top come in different colours, so some may be available, some not, need to know your interior colour. The rear vertical trim behind the front door is still available (lots of stock).

I'll second that, for those of us on the left side of the US, Mark Sherman at Vancouver Toyota is the best option. A while back he was telling me he ordered a bunch of engine part for the original M engine that someone was restoring. He was able to track them down.

In many cases, the technology and factories used to make the part no longer exist. Especially true of the electrical stuff. That means they would have to re-engineer the part, and the economics just don't add up given the small volumes.

Hey Jeff, what is the potential for Toyota do another run of high demand parts. I know they have done it for the MKIV crowd. Are the molds still around, or does Toyota dispense of them after a certain amount of time? I'm sure it costs money to keep such things in storage and at some point becomes cost prohibitive.

I need the passenger side drip rail ON the targa roof. I just thought that with people knocking the drip rail against the A-pillar drip rail all the time while taking off/reinstalling their tops, and pretty much all of them being black, it would be a more popular part. Didn't realize part of the shadow gray interior is attached to it though, kinda dumb that isn't screwed on later, making the drip rail more universal. They should have cranked out a butt-load of them before retiring the machines that made them, lol.

I went and picked up the drivers side one today, along with the A-pillar and windshield trim, and also the vertical louvers behind the front door...even got the big plastic moulding under the windshield, ah yeah! -just need that freakin' passenger side targa moulding!! My dealer was so close to getting it all... At least the one they could find, the drivers side, is the one that's REALLY beat up from knocking against the A-pillar drip rail.

Man this targa drip rail is a lot more involved than I thought. It has a rail where it looks like the window seal goes and also shadow gray interior trim attached to that. The bodyshop mentioned a website called partsvoice, IIRC, where you can place requests for Japanese parts and such. Ever heard of it? Yeah, if you could ask around about the drip rail, that would be awesome! Let me know even if they're not shadow gray, I may try to transplant the trim.

Lol, +1 on the OEM floor mats

Best thing about new mouldings, the shop definately wont try to just paint around them, lol. That very well may be why the shop tried to tell me they couldn't find ANY of them, lol
