Never really had my supra at high speeds since i got it but i recently took it ont he highway and when I put it in O/D the O/D light blinks constantly. The torque convertor feels like its having a really hard time locking and releasing because it will studder alot when I push the gas pedal down to pass someone. But at normal cruising it feels fine and above 75mph its smooth. Anyways, can anyone shed some light? Thanks much!

PS - I tried to search but get impatient after the 6th page....

My dad put a supra transmission in in his v6 toyota truck and it blinks the od light. Been like that for 6 years now with no problems. No codes either.

It doesnt blink like its throwing a code, you know, like the typical X amount of blinks, short pause, another X amount then long pause. This is just a constant blink, on off on off on off(and only in O/D), never changes speed or time.... How do I check tranny codes?

maybe it's just warning you that the O/D is off? My o/d light blinks sometimes too....but I did a 5spd swap so it's not even connected to anything :) I'm just gonna pull the bulb out.

Good luck!

I can't remember without looking, but you need to have the overdrive button on, then jumper the tranny-terminals in the diag box... kinda like you would for the check engine light.

Look at the TRSM... specific instructions and what the codes mean...

I've had a code 61 (#2 speed sensor) for some time now, but haven't gotten too far into troubleshooting it.

I am reading about this on Ondemand and when it blinks it means there is a fault code. The ect ecu has stored fault codes. The ect ecu controls solenoid openings for sol.1 and 2 no 1 for shifting no.2 for torque converter lock up. To retreive fault codes put a jumper wire on TT and E1 on check connector, with OD switch on and ignition switch on.
#42 Defective no 1 speed sensor
#61 Defective no2 speed sensor
#62 Defective no 1 solenoid
#63 Defective no 2 solenoid
#64 Defective lock up solenoid
Use this to trouble shoot

Getting ready to troubleshoot mine today... Was hoping to see that someone else may have figured out their issue. Anyways, I'll report back on what I find...

The blinking O/D light is an indicator of a fault. You need to retrieve the DTC's as indicated on the TSRM online.

On another note, there isnt a reason to drive with the O/D button deactivated. There are only a few instances when you should have it off. The old GM 700R4 renamed 4L60E was better if you drove it that way due to the overdrive sprag failing. We dont have that problem. All you are doing is wearing out the button and switch.

The torque convertor feels like its having a really hard time locking and releasing because it will studder alot when I push the gas pedal down to pass someone.
A studder when rapidly acclerating could be an ignition problem. Be more descriptive when you decribe the drive problem.

You can still run but the tranny will just shift at default. If your speedo cable is broke the light will flash. Mine was the short one. Less than 25 bucks.

Speedo's fine and everything else check's out... just no signal from the speed sensor, to the ABS computer. I will pull the sensor off again this week and see what's up with it. I already swapped it before with another known-good one, but still had the code.
