piranhas are supposedly scavengers and will not kill for food? Those early 90 movies really dramatized everything.. EVERYTHING. It would make sense that those piranhas feasted off body if he was already dead. I wouldn't go through the trouble of of conjuring up a solid story and then make a really damn real looking cadaver just for shits and giggles.

During the dry season when they get trapped in small pools and the food supply runs out, they go crazy and will eat anything that's weak enough (even their own).
