Good day, gents. I'll begin with an introduction, my name is Kevin. For the past two years, I've owned a Porsche 944, and decided it's time to pass the fun on, and maybe get some power. I have a friend who has a 87 (not 86.5) Supra Turbo, which is a bit older. We're doing a trade, and I'm getting money out of it as well. I assume I will have amassed about 4500 dollars by the time I get started, and maybe another 500 from my tax return. I'm looking to freshen her up and get a reliable 400ish horsepower. If I can reliably get more, great.

Here's what I know: Get the deck planed, and get ARP studs in it. Metal headgasket, no questions. I also know of the 'rod knock' issue, but I'm not sure how to avoid it, which brings me to

Here's what I would like to know: How can I avoid rod knock? And by any means necessary, what's the best way to get 400 horsepower reliably? She's got the 7M-GTE and a 5spd. The ct-26 seems a bit tired, but it runs rather well. When I'm done, I'd like a clean running vehicle reliably putting out 400 horses (or more) and maybe some websites I can be referred to. Any idiot can grab a turbo kit from eBay for 1,150 and get 500 horses, but I don't want to be on the side of the road. Time is also an issue, I'd rather not spend more than a couple months if I don't have to.

This isn't another fifteen year old kid's pipe dream, I go to classes every day anywhere from three to six hours just working inside of a shop, and I do have the money and am not afraid to use it. I'll be shipping to Fort Jackson June 3rd, so I can be broke by then for all I care.

I've tried searching for something similar, but didn't come up with a whole lot of what I'm looking for.

Thanks guys for any help you can get me, I'm still looking up things all over the 'net!

Best advise for Rod Knock..............1 quart over full at all times (won't hurt a thing), and DO NOT over Rev. The motor sees its efficiency by about 5800, so shifting by 6 grand will save the headache.

For Power.....See above thread posted

EDIT**** See Driftmotion in the vendors section for parts. Aaron is as good as they come, and he sells some well proven "non-brand products". Avoid ebay at all costs
