And dont let te Cavalier worry ya, like ya said, ya gotta start somewhere... I think your power range, an SC'd Cavi is a good kill... Go after a few SRT4s and Saturn Ions... They're fun...

I hear what your saying. The guy knew though that as soon as traffic cleared up, I was going, so he was aware of me punching it for the most part.


Duane, don't let your horsepower alter your perception of what you should and shouldn't race. What makes your car more superior to a Neon other than the horsepower? So you wouldnt race a high horsepower Neon or Cavalier? Why? because they are not up to your materialistic standards? Oh no.. Its a Neon. MKIII's arent exactly the sexiest car on the road either (No offense :D)

I can list off 10 things about Big D's car that make it better than a Neon and HP wouldnt even be on that list, even compared to a HIGH hp SRT4... I think the point you missed in Duane's post is that he isnt doggin you for racing that car, but he personally wouldnt... It has nothing to do with his power level, or having an uppity out look on cars, like MKIV owners, its more of a prefferance... Personally, I wouldnt race a neon either, unless the owner really needed his ass handed to him and was relentless about it, like a local forum guy here that is beggin for it... But if I was on the street and one of them was buggin me, I wouldnt waste my time with it... There is an inherant risk in street racing, if you are going to do it, make it worth your while... I'd race a Viper, a Z06 Vette, an MKIV or even a bike... I would not race a cobalt, neon, or a civic... Why should I have to prove to the Civic what he and I already know: I'd waste em...

You may not like Duane, but like it or not, he's done something and is doing things that no other MKIII owners are doing, all while being faithful to the original 7M motor that came in the car... While so many of these guys are jumpiong ship to the holy grail of import motors *the JZs* Duane has stuck with the pathetic, head gasket blowing, rod knocking, worthless POS 7M that so many people bitch over, and yet, has made it do what none others have... If Duane WANTED to be an elitist asshole MKIV owner, he would have and could have a LONG ass time ago... Dont bash the man for having an OPINION... Its his inevitable right to do so...

Well I would still give a Neon respect if it was high horsepower. I just dont understand why you wouldnt give the same respect to a Neon if it ran the same times as a Corvette or Viper...

I dont give props to the car, I give it to the driver... It has nothing to do with the car, and Im talking about HIGH hp cars... Fuck a stock neon, seriously, Im not trying to sound stuck up, but if a neon with a little fart can revs at me, I wouldnt give it a second glance... When it comes to a high hp car, for one, it takes ALOT to get there... 95% of the people will NEVER understand that... The amount of money, time, effort, love, blood, sweat and tears it takes: most people dont have it in them to get there... Some people, like 99% of the MKIV owners, just drop it off at a shop and let us grease monkeys build it for them, and they pop off the checks or credit cards... So yeah, the respect goes to the driver, not the car, and even there it takes alot more than a fast car to get my respect...

lol, i can see where the three of yall are comin from, duane and jake are just sayin that for the gas used, its not worth it really to mess with a cavalier(cobalt), cuz its a 2 something liter economy car. but your coming from the idea of if something wants to run, then run it. i used to do that in my firebird, just to scare them when i dropped it 4 gears at 50mph. duane and jake arent trying to be jerks or anything like that. i like how jake worded it, props to the driver not the car, cuz truly an 800hp car in the hands of an asshat would still be fast, but not as fast as it could with a better driver. but hey, since you beat it, you beat it, so congrats on the kill

i really dont know why i picked that number, i was gonna say 1,000 but there arent too many 1,000 horsepower cars, theres a few locally that make 800hp, so i just thought that one, didnt mean anything by it tho

edit: Duanes car is the Roxorz!!
