I wanted to know if there was anything like this? Mechanic took my block out and we both looked at it, but he says it could be some knock-off engine. The engine I have was previously rebuilt and needs a rebuild again because of the lock on the piston so the walls are scraped. But yeah, freeze plugs say car pro(s?), I couldn't figure out what brand pistons they were but the symbol looked like an S in a circle, and I don't know if we didn't look good enough, but we didn't the 7m stamp on it, and he was also telling me that crank looks new but it should be smooth, but by looking at IJ's thread:http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?124392-Early-Vs-Late-GTE-Blocks ; the cranks look the same.Only on the side of mine they look idk if I should say scored but it's not smooth. Its as if it has been machined. And where the oil pan sits, I have all those 2's like in the picture only mine are barely visible. What the mechanic said to me was that if this is a knock-off block then it would be a waste of money to rebuild it cause it would just break again. He said they wear very easily. Im sorry if I sound like a noob, but that's because I am. Cause of the supra I decided to go in to auto mechanics and im still barely learning and becoming ASE certified. Can't post pic's now, but I will hopefully tomorrow.

lol that is a very good point. Oh well that's good! Thanks Grim. I did do some light searching and I couldn't find anything so I just had to ask. Should I still post pics of it or is it ok?

Hard to make it out, but it looks like one of the freeze plugs has one of the overheat indicators on it that shops put on so they can screw you over when it BHG's and overheats and blame it on you overheating it.

sorry i wasn't able to label any of the pics, I was in a hurry to get to work. Ill do it later tonight.

GrimJack: I believe it could be at 83.5mm. Because on top of the pistons right on the edge they all have a stamp that say .50. And how would I measure the block? And in that case the head too? Cause I was thinking of just asking the machine shop if I could bore it out to 84mm cause of the damage on the cylinder wall so I would have him measure it.

Poodles: That white plastic one on the freeze plug? From what I remember off the top of my head, I think it said Evergreen Warranty void if removed. But it looked like it was nailed in? But idk.

EKMO that block has defenately been rebuilt. If the pistons say .50 its been bored out already and you might get away to do a 1.00 over if the scratches aren't too deep in the cylinder wall. The paste and EVERGREEN sticker on it is the shop that probably rebuilt it. I bought an ATK engine and it had the same thing as yours on the freeze plug. IF your engine is good for a 84mm piston PLEASE dont let the shop tell you its ok to bore and hone the block before you actually get pistons. DONT ask how i know 2 blocks later after tare down i see cross hatches all shiny on several parts of the cylinder wall from the piston. GOod luck with the rebuild

Alright. Well thanks everyone! I will hopefully be taking it to a machine shop very soon and ill post what happens with the block. Thanks wardog, I'll make sure I have the pistons before he tries to do work on it. Is there anything else that I should have the machine shop check or replace? I also have a problem with my camshafts, would it be ok to post about it here or should I start a new thread?

ATK rebuild are done very well. I got one from a guy who was getting out of the Supra stuff and it is running perfectly fine with extremely good oil pressure.
