Yep...

I don't mind everything else, just PS/Speedo.

Apparently Tech2motorsports has a PS kit and a magnetic coil pickup and speedometer sensor to remedy both problems.

Gonna have to go with a hell no. You have a nice, reliable, comfortable DD, but you don't have a lot of money, but you wanna trade it for a shitty, half assed 240? 1J swap or no, that car is going to be a money pit fast. Besides that, if you have any sort of metal in your right foot (doesn't even have to be lead) you'll end up getting the same or worse gas mileage in the 240. I was at this crossroad a year ago, there was a beautiful, perfect, one owner NA auto for sale for 2k and the turbo car I ended up going with for 2200... In complete seriousness, just trying to keep the turbo car going (failing miserably) has cost me more than doing what I wanted to do with an MkIII originally (HX40 MSII 1J swap), or even what I want to do now (same set up, 7M with mild head work).

Take it from me, stick with the car you know can get you around and save until you can do what you want with it.

Godddddddddddddddddd.

Seriously?

This sucks.

=/

Badly.

Not trying to poke fun or anything, but do you think the 7M had anything to do with problems keeping it running?

I say do NOT trade, that 240 is going to be a money pit, I suggest u save your money and later in the future, drop in the 1J in the lexus and u will have the best of both worlds. My budy has one with a 1J and he get lots of attention

I'm not really going for attention, and it will be a LONG time until I get enough to put a 1j in the lexus. =/

I guess what I really want right now is a Raw and Fast car. I can do without AC forever. Powersteering can be put back in relatively easily, and the speedo thing can be fixed in an hour.

Not the 7M's fault at all. My 7M is tough as nails (and/or I'm lucky as hell), it's all previous owners and broken parts and a tidbit of me being a noob. You want a raw and fast car? Buy a shell and build that up while keeping the SC. Trust me on this.

Btw, the AC and the PS and the speedo and the tach and all the other "little stuff" adds up to a LOT of money FAST.

And yeah, it could add up quick but ALL I need is the speedo.

That's $200 installed off the bat. I can sell that front-end and get a stock 240sx front end and pay for the PS and whatnot with what's left. Minty fresh carbon hood too, I can sell the one thats on there.

Damnit to hell.

Well basically how about this.

I got my SC400 for supercheap, and I know I could turn around and sell this car for more money than I got the SC for. If it turns into a money pit or something I don't want, I'd be still good off selling it, right?..

From the 1JZ people, what kind of gas mileage are you REALLY getting.

City/Highway.

I come from a land down under
If the S13 is such a good car and worth so much why are they trying to offload it on you for such a cheap trade?
(trust me it's not because they're nice guys and want you to come out ahead)

If you can make some $$$ reselling the Lexus, that is a good idea if you don't want it. But from what it sounds like, you do like the Lexus and it's been at least a reliable DD. Speaking for myself, a lot of the time I wish my Supra were just the sort of car I could get in and drive every day without worrying about anything. Those types of cars are hard to come by without paying at least around 6-7k, and usually for that much it's not much fun =(

If I had a good SC400 I'd keep it and drive it. Save your money for another car or something, unless you make quite a bit and can afford the upkeep of a more modified car. Or be like some of us and DD our modified cars while worrying about them and fixing them =) I tell myself eventually it'll be good and reliable but I really don't think that'll happen until I'm well out of college and have tons of money. Hopefully...

IJ is right.. btw 1JZ gas mileage for me is about 18 around town and in the mid 20's on the highway, but there are people who get better mileage out of them.

Basically this guy has done a lot of swaps before, he's had a LS1 FD that he sold, a couple RB25 swapped 240's among other things. He's trying to start up a business and he's already got an STi. He said he's out of the phase of building cars and whatnot. He said he can throw a part of two on the STi if he wants to have fun and right now he's trying to start a business so he wants a comfortable automatic DD for getting around, he has the other car for when he needs excitement. He knows damn well the problems of the car, but he's 110% straight up about everything.
