Okay, Next week I'm supposed to be picking up a 1990 Hatch S13 with an S15 front end, 1JZ swap, Single turbo conversion GT35R with other goodies. However, the car lacks a lot of things I am used to today.

God, the more I think about it, the more I don't want this car.

I need some convincing people!

I'm going from a Minty Lexus SC400. automatic, leather, super luxury awesome car, ice cold AC, PS, Power steering wheel, windows, super smooth beautiful car to an S13 with a 1JZ. No power steering, No power windows, No A/C, no nothing. It has no speedo/tach. (Is the tech2motorsports magnetic coilthing the easiest way to fix that?) and I just think I'm going to have to dump a lot of money into it...I really dont have any money to spend. Someone please either talk to some sense into me or prove I need this car...I really want something fast, and this is a good opportunity, but it seems like I'm losing so much, arghhhh.... Someone tell me the first time I hit boost everything will be okay, haha.

There's a lot of questions I need to know answers for, because it's getting to crunchtime!

I just typed out the hugest message and it got lost in internetfailland......

Basically what I said is:

I absolutely love the SC, but I think I got it at the wrong stage in my life. While I'm young, I think I need a car to get that phase out of my system. I want something I can have fun with and build on. (not to mention better gas mileage is awesome). I know I'll end up going back to an SC later on in life. The SC has absolutely no aftermarket in the US. (New Zealand/Australia on the other hand.....) It's automatic, gets bad gas mileage, and I suppose is too "old" for me. It's so comfortable, and I'll be going to a complete polar opposite and I don't know if it's worth it to me. The car being traded is worth a lot more than mine, but I'm going from being surrounded in leather and power everything, to absolutely nothing basically. A motor with wheels...

I'm supposed to pick it up next week and I'm still torn....Argghhh.

Yeah..

I just really don't know if it's worth it to me.

The ladies love the Lexus. (haha.)

It's just...so comfortable.

I guess I have a lot of thinking to do....~350HP in a 2600lb car sounds pretty nice though...haha.

I come from a land down under
LOL here for real!

I learnt early on very few women are actually impressed by a really fast car, put em in something smooth fast plush and nice and that's another story.

Guess you have some soul searching to do what's more important to you?

Yeah that's true.

I have a friend with a Starion that's modded to hell and a lot of girls hate his car or are scared to ride in it. Maybe I should drop a 1J in the SC, but I don't have the coin for that..

Gas really is killing me though, it's pretty expensive.

keep the lexus. my little bro finished his rb25 about a year ago, but he always drives my moms benz. the problem is, 240s' aren't comfortable. at all. think about it like this.
a. you are sitting in a leather couch, with lots of creature comforts, or
b. you will be sitting on a wooden chair.

I say go for the 240 and slowly add on the comforts you want, its not impossible to get AC and PS working, just a little work. as for the interior, maybe a nice set of seats, there are plenty of aftermarket ones that will give you the comfort of the stock SC seat.

Like you said, you're young. Get it and don't look back!

those are regular S13 seats, not 180sx.. and honestly that SC beats the daylights out that thing. and gas mileage? you say the SC gets terrible gas mileage, what do you think happens when you hit boost in the turbo car? The win/win is the SC with a swap, but you don't have the money.

I'd say hell yes youre young why not if it had A/C and PS, but basically like IJ said, screw that. Decent looking ride though, could use some type x tails if you get it.

I'd keep the SC, I love fast cars and driving like its my last ride but I like leather and auto as well.

so if you can afford the s13 which I might add looks sweet and keep the SC by all means man do that.

Those fenders and the hood don't look to be lined up very well at all... .5" gap between passenger fender and door? Hood no where near straight. If the body parts conversion is that sloppy, I wonder what shortcuts were taken under the hood.

I'd keep the SC... I'll bet the 240 will be constant work(money), which will outweigh any gas savings.

Good luck whatever you choose.

I don't know about everyone else, but speaking personally, the whole hardcore fast car with no sound deadening/AC/PS etc thing got old really, really fast. Then again I crashed the car that I did that to so I might be a bit biased against it =( My dad has an SC, I don't think it's that comfortable. It's decently powerful (1UZ) but the automaticness and the weight kind of sucks. My Supra weighs more than it but it's just got that ponderous feeling... Soft suspension maybe?

Do what I did, walk the middle line. (with a Supra!) When I drive the SC it's basically like getting into a slower, automatic version of my Supra that's leather inside and has worse visibility. Oh and I'm pretty sure the shocks are pretty worn out too. I have power steering and AC and all of that in the Supra, and the Supra's cloth seats beat the SC's leather seats by 10x.

Hey, why don't you supercharge the SC or swap in a JZ?! =D

Sell the sc400, buy a sc300 and go turbo. That way you still have the Lexus and a lil fuel savings and the chickmagnet is still in affect. My 2 cents worth right there.

Arghhh.

I would preferably like to go SC300 with a 1JZ but I don't have ANY extra money.

In all honesty, minus the flaws, that car is still worth more than mine. The SC bluebooks for 5 because it's got a lot of miles. I won't find a MKIII with a 1JZ swap or SC with a 1JZ swap for anywhere close to that. If I get the 240, then the first thing I'm doing is selling that front-end and getting a normal S13 front end. Then I can work on the PS.(Tech2motorsports sells a kit) It's got a full interior so I mean it can't be THAT bad, can it?...
