Noise of Cammed 2jz's?

Hi guys,
I've just installed some BC 264's in my 2j according to the cam sheet form BC it suggests .006 on intake and .008 on exhuast.. The TSRM however, gives a little breathing room of intake .006-.010 and the exhaust .010-.014.

My question is my cams are noisey at 2000-3000 RPM they are clanking around in side and very noteable to the ear. I had my 1jz cammed before but it was so long ago I can't remember if there was any clanking but I think there was.

On the intake my looses is .008 and on the exhaust the loosest is .010

Even when spec'd out my 2JZ sounds noticeably like a sewing machine with cams.

Eric, my 1jz cams would sound pretty loud at times when first getting under boost. Since I've put the 1jz head on the 2jz, they seem to have quieted down some.

Do you still have a copy of the camcard for the 1jz cams that you sold? I've got to reshim mine and I'd like to know what clearance they called for. Thanks.

I believe they are .006 and .008 as well for the crower cams brian always recommends tighter then looser.

how tight did you guys have them hot and henn?

Mine are about in .008; ex.010 I believe.

I installed my HKS cams per the TSRM and cant say if I had any increase in noise just from the cams. I also did Forged CP pistons at the same time and that added to the nose the engine makes as well.

If BC has cam specs for there cams I would follow them.

damn supra that's uber loose, i dont know how you didnt shoot a shim.. i did wehn i was 15 thats how I borke the 1jz.
