when i was driving my car after a happy swap all the sudden it dies in the middle of the road so i quickly got it off the road in embarrasment, then i soon see that i have no spark at all... luckily i have another supra at my house so i swapped over a known good coil and ignitor to my car and still nothing... what path of diagnostics do i need to go to next... im soo lost...:aigo:

k so i checked and i have no codes.. i switched the distributor over from a good car and no spark, i switched the ignitor and coil over from a good car and no spark, i checked for voltage at the coil connector and i have voltage, i have ecu signal to the ignitor,i checked the connector to the distributor and i have voltage. isnt there a crank position sensor where is it and how do i check it... but wouldn't i have a CEL for it?>\

and yes i did search all over the place for a how to find the crank position sensor and i found nothing a ton of stuff about the cam position sensor and i know thats fine...

There is no crank position sensor.

Since your N/A you have a distributor, CPS is on the GTE

How did you confirm that you have no spark?

Sure there is... right beneath the rotor. Actually, the N/A's distributor *could* be used in place of the GTE's CPS in a pinch.

thats the cam position sensor, and i know i have no spark cuz i pulled the wire and held it next to the coil to see if it jumps the slight gap i made... and nothing at all... i even did the screw driver thing....

I was dragged off track by YourEnemy's bringing up the CPS... my bad.

And you don't know it yet, but you're a fool for telling JJ to shove off.

First thing you do is put all the stuff you took off your car (coil, distributor, etc) back on...and start from square one. Your complicating things by just throwing parts at it.
Now look at the TSRM for a flow chart on a "no start". Although candidly (and forgive me if I'm wrong) after I put the original parts back on it, I'd check all the fuses before going to the flow chart.

no one should be allowed to say things like that to anyone... he sounds like someone that no one should put up with, i want an apology... and sure.... im sorry for telling you to shove off but the things you say totally deserve it so you need to stop...

where do i get a Tsrm so i can follow a flow chart cuz this chilton is worthless... thank you for making me realise that im just throwing stones at my car issues suprabad im pretty sure with a TSRM a flow chart will keep me on track...

JJ is one of the very few people here that could successfully diagnose your issue without playing musical components, good luck waiting for the apology I wouldn't be holding my breath.

Even though it's not my fault I apologize for this forum being filled with morons of varying degrees, some of whom look for crank sensors that aren't there. From where I sit they should be apologizing for asking dumb ass questions when all they had to do is look in the factory service manual. Course, that only applies to morons who're smart enough to have one...
