I ran without power steering for a couple years. It sucked, but nothing happened to the car. I fixed the leak and it still works like a champ.

The car will work without power steering BUT power racks have higher gearing than non powered racks. So unless you have alot of upper body strength driving at lower speeds will be difficult. If you want an idea as to how bad it will be driv in a deserted parking lot then kill the engine and try steering.

My steering is next to impossible when I stall. Question. Why would you want to get rid of the power steering? Is it broken and you cant afford to fix it right now? Or do you want it that way??

Just wondering.. I must be spoiled :icon_bigg I like my power steering and my A/C . Without them I hate life..

So if you had a pump that was 100% working would it still take 30ish away? or less? I understand the less restriction on the engine is more power for the car. NO PS and NO AC , and the engine does not have to push them, but with those parts working in good condition do they hurt that bad?

+1 for steering without it. its a bit of a bear but I suppose you get used to it.

man my work van doesnt have pas. its a 1997 ford transit with a 2.5 litre diesel engine. It kills me doin a 3 point turn in that thing lol the tires have gotta have like about 50 psi in them to make the steering light enough to turn

Why didn't you just take the belt off at the time since your PS wasn't working anyways? It would have gave you back that robbed HP so the car could get up and go easier.

Power steering is for girls lol my pump went out on me and I removed the belt to it and the AC. But I don't like parallel parking, what a bitch. Now when I go to the gym I just do lower body::biglaugh:
