89 na manual. will not idle. checked out the tps and isc, both tests passed. it runs fine, but refuses to idle. if I unplug the isc it does try harder to idle. I recently replaced the tps and fixed the high idle problem. out of gear I can keep it running, but it is rough until about 2500 rpm. after I get it in gear it accelerates and runs just fine from low rpm all the way through. I am thinking of pulling the isc and cleaning it, but I'm not sure how to.

It's in the TSRM. Have you checked the vac hoses?

Any codes?

To clean the ISCV you have to remove it and take the motor off (black part). It's held on with 3 screws. There's a hard rubber ring gasket under it...be careful not to break it. Clean the aluminum body with brake cleaner...same for the valve seat attached to the motor. Re-assemble and you're done...you will have to replace the gasket where it attaches to the intake manifold.

and I did check all the hoses, no leaks, but they are getting old and showing early signs of cracks. I cleaned the isc, no difference at all.

I have 2 codes, 41(didn't clear it after I replaced tps) and 24, air intake temp problem. tested all circuits in the afm, all within spec, I did not adjust the tps, but it worked perfectly(always idled to 700 exactly) with no problems until today. I cleaned the isc as per instructions, no change...

ok, got some alligator clips and tested the isc operation. (battery voltage to b1 and b1, groung s 1-4) as I ground the s terminals, the valve twitches, but there is no actual movement, there is no spec for the movement (mm, thousanths, etc, so unless it is supposed to move dramatically, I think it froze... is it re-buildable? can I take it apart? napa sells them for like 500 so...

Well a 41 code points to the TPS, did you set it according to the TSRM like Jdub asked?

no, but it worked perfectly for over a month, and a tech at toyota said it was a plug and play. and the code is only still there cause I never bothered to clear it after I got the new tps

No thanks, I've found that most lepers are more together than this guy.

Seriously though, I have a better chance of teaching my dog to fly.

ok, so you all think I'm an idiot. that still leaves me with a broken car after testing everything I can think of and trying my best to figure out why it wont idle. I'm simply asking what any of you would do if you had the same problem. as fot setting the tps, as soon as the car started not idling, I switched it back to the old one (used to make it idle about 1100rpm)and it made absolutely no difference. I'm running out of ideas, that is why I'm here, please I need some guidance!

OK lets see if this will "fly". Reset your ECU. See if you still throw the TPS code, probably will. Then set it according to the TSRM. Just swapping parts will probably not fix it, they are wear items and have to be recalibrated once in awhile especially if you go swapping them around.

Sound about right Jdub, JJ, CRE? Please you don't have to respond if I'm right but if I'm wrong please do :)

found the problem. seems my exhaust manifold melted a hole through the stock box that connects the tb to the afm. got a better heat shield and wrapped the new box.

Did it take care of your codes?

Don't ask me AJ, I'm done with this guy (kinda funny isn't it... I knew to quit before ever starting).

The dog on the other hand is doing VERY well. Doesn't yelp near as much when tossed from the roof now... still can't seem to get the whole flapping thing across to him though.

LMAO I'll have to try that with a few I've got I think they might do fairly well :)

There's potential there, that's for sure... but don't let the whole size thing fool you. I'm starting to think that a much larger dog would at least try harder.

It's rather disappointing. :nono:
